Chunky Drakeshead x Drumgoose Warlord Pedigree Pups

County / Town: Shropshire

Description

This is the reason I have been involved in breeding for so long. To breed from your own line of fantastic temperaments, but add the very best performance pedigree to it.

I will be keeping a bitch, but not entirely sure which as yet!

We are lucky to have 9 chunky puppies that are showing great promise;

Males - unusual white very pale, yellow & 3 black.

Females - 1 pale yellow, 1 dark yellow potentially red, 2 black.

Maeve, the dam is our home bred black Labrador. The Dam’s Grand-dam line pedigree is littered with FTCH, fantastic performance but also dogs of fantastic chilled out personality.

The Dam’s Grand-sire line is the second to none Drakeshead Eddie line - needing no introduction or explanation, pure quality and performance.

Maeve has a fantastic temperament, she is very laid back & loves nothing more than a cuddle with my daughter.

As expected Maeve is extensively health tested;

Eyes: Clear

Elbows: 0/0

Hips: 3/3

DNA ‘clear’ of the following:

HNPK Hereditary Nasal ParaKeratosis

SD2 Skeletal Dysplasia 2

STGD Stargardt disease

CNM Centronuclear Myopathy

MCD Macular corneal dystrophy

Prcd-PRA Progressive Retinal Atrophy

The sire is our own outstandingly well bred dark yellow Labrador stud dog.

His pedigree is second to none, containing the magnificent ’Int-FTCH Drumgoose Warlord’.

His temperament is a perfect mix of biddable, keen & enthusiastic work ethic and a fantastic family dog.

He is adored by our children & quite happily ‘plays’ along with my daughters games!

He has been fully DNA & Health tested:

Eyes: clear

Hips: 3/4 BVA 2/4 ANKC

Elbows: 0/0

DNA clear of over 180 inherited diseases including:

We understand the importance of breeding quality of genetics with sporting ability and trainability. We strive to ensure our puppies are bred for the ‘right’ reasons, to improve & sustain quality within the breed. All of our dogs have working champion pedigrees, they are extensively health tested & DNA tested. We also take time to consider and measure inbreeding coefficiency.

The puppies and all of our dogs are fed on Purina Beta puppy biscuits.

We are fully licensed registered breeders, who have invested and continue to reinvest back into our canine family. We believe that undergoing the rigour that the licensing process involves insures that not only are you purchasing a puppy who has been whelped & raised to a very high standard of care, but that we are legally bound by the current Animal Welfare Act 2018.

All pups will leave us with...

Their first vaccine L4 & full vet health check.

A microchip; registered to their new owner.

A regular worming & fleeing programme Panacur 10%

A scented blanket.

Purina Beta puppy biscuits

A lifetime of advice from ourselves.

Copies of health certificates & pedigrees if required.

Puppies are ready to leave end of November.

Due to the unfortunate rise in canine related crime please be aware that you will be asked for proof of identification before we meet you, and all face-to-face viewings are recorded over our extensive interactive CCTV system.

🐶 Buyer’s Checklist for Gun Dogs

Whether you’re buying, selling, or studding a dog, it’s essential to take the right steps to protect yourself—and the animals involved.

  • Always meet the dog in person at the breeder’s home or kennel—never agree to buy without seeing them first.
  • Ask to see the puppies with their Dam (mother), and the Sire (father) if available.
  • Verify all paperwork:
    • Kennel Club (KC) registration number
    • Date of birth
    • Health screening results
  • Prepare questions to ask the breeder. Some helpful ones include:
    • Did you breed the dog(s) yourself?
    • Can I see where they were bred and raised?
    • How old is the Dam, and how many litters has she had?
    • Was the birth natural or via C-section?
    • Are there any known health issues?
    • Can I see documentation for both Dam and Sire?
    • Will the puppy be vaccinated and wormed before purchase?
  • If something feels off, walk away. Don’t ignore red flags.
  • Ask for advice from a trusted third party if you’re unsure.
  • Take your time. This is a big decision—don’t rush it.
  • Puppies should appear happy, healthy, clean, and curious.
  • You should be allowed to see and handle all puppies in the litter, not just the one you're considering.
  • Never buy a puppy younger than 8 weeks old.
  • Avoid any puppies that show signs of illness—e.g. runny eyes, weakness, or diarrhoea.
  • Is the whelping pen clean?
  • Do the dogs have access to fresh water, clean food, and adequate space?
  • The living conditions can say a lot about the breeder’s standards.
  • Ensure you receive the KC registration form and all relevant documents at the time of payment.
  • Write up a simple contract to protect both buyer and seller—especially important in case circumstances change.
  • Never agree to buy a puppy in a car park or public place. Always go to the breeder's premises.

🧠 Final Thought

Buying a gun dog is your responsibility. Do your homework on both the breed and the breeder. Make sure your decision is informed, confident, and in the best interest of the dog.
