Female Yellow Lab Pup

County / Town: Cheshire

Description

We have a fabulous bitch pup available from a superbly balanced litter, ready to go to a new working home.

The other pups in the litter were pre-ordered for both work in the field and as detection dogs, as both parents are well accomplished in the roles and owned by well respected trainers.

Mum is a yellow, extremely athletic bitch with fantastic work drive and ability but with a calm and loving nature. She hunts like a spaniel but will retrieve all game to hand in a controlled manner, and has previously produced pups that have excelled in their work. She has elbow score of 0 and hips 2/4 which was tested at 3yrs old.

Sire is a nice sized black dog from local trialling lines known for dogs of substance, from parents with excellent health test results. He too has a calm and friendly nature and loves his work on a local shoot.

The pups will be KC registered and I can send the breeding by whatsapp photo if required.

The mating has produced pups that have all passed initial testing and selection by three extremely well experienced working dog trainers - friendly, bold, confident, good conformation, attitude and exposure to new environments. The pups that are already in new homes settled immediately and took it in their stride. They have been reared on meat, are microchipped, wormed and have had first vaccinations with a clear bill of health from a well experienced vet.

The bitch pup available was not a weaker pup - there were only 2 bitches in the litter and it took 90 minutes for the trainer to choose between the two! She is a lovely little thing who is always happy to interact with people and will make a fantastic working pet or straight up working dog.

Viewing is available just outside Chester at our training centre following a phone call chat, so time wasters need not bother to ask for hundreds of photos!

🐶 Buyer’s Checklist for Gun Dogs

Whether you’re buying, selling, or studding a dog, it’s essential to take the right steps to protect yourself—and the animals involved.

  • Always meet the dog in person at the breeder’s home or kennel—never agree to buy without seeing them first.
  • Ask to see the puppies with their Dam (mother), and the Sire (father) if available.
  • Verify all paperwork:
    • Kennel Club (KC) registration number
    • Date of birth
    • Health screening results
  • Prepare questions to ask the breeder. Some helpful ones include:
    • Did you breed the dog(s) yourself?
    • Can I see where they were bred and raised?
    • How old is the Dam, and how many litters has she had?
    • Was the birth natural or via C-section?
    • Are there any known health issues?
    • Can I see documentation for both Dam and Sire?
    • Will the puppy be vaccinated and wormed before purchase?
  • If something feels off, walk away. Don’t ignore red flags.
  • Ask for advice from a trusted third party if you’re unsure.
  • Take your time. This is a big decision—don’t rush it.
  • Puppies should appear happy, healthy, clean, and curious.
  • You should be allowed to see and handle all puppies in the litter, not just the one you're considering.
  • Never buy a puppy younger than 8 weeks old.
  • Avoid any puppies that show signs of illness—e.g. runny eyes, weakness, or diarrhoea.
  • Is the whelping pen clean?
  • Do the dogs have access to fresh water, clean food, and adequate space?
  • The living conditions can say a lot about the breeder’s standards.
  • Ensure you receive the KC registration form and all relevant documents at the time of payment.
  • Write up a simple contract to protect both buyer and seller—especially important in case circumstances change.
  • Never agree to buy a puppy in a car park or public place. Always go to the breeder's premises.

🧠 Final Thought

Buying a gun dog is your responsibility. Do your homework on both the breed and the breeder. Make sure your decision is informed, confident, and in the best interest of the dog.
