Description

We are delighted to announce the safe arrival of an all chocolate litter on 11/05/26

‘Wickenstone Beawitched’ (aka Sue) X ‘Tarnedge Run Riot’

This will be Sue’s final litter and this mating has been carefully selected as we intend to retain a puppy for ourselves to carry on Sue’s bloodline.

To protect our bloodlines and to re enforce health testing KC Papers for this litter will be endorsed for Export and Breeding.

We have 2  Dark Chocolate Boys still available to reserve.

All prospective homes should have ample house space and a well fenced decent sized garden or outdoor area, priority will be given to active/working homes.

This mating has been selected for it’s estimated low risk breeding value for hip and elbow dysplasia and it’s low in-breeding co-efficient of 2.6% (the breed average is 6.4%)

Puppies from this litter will be hereditary clear from prcd-PRA, CNM, EIC, SD2(dwarfism) and will also not exhibit diseases STGD, HNPK, MED.

We have received nothing but glowing reports from owners who purchased puppies from Sue’s previous litters, some puppies come back to us with their new owners for training sessions and we can see first hand how the puppies we have bred are developing,  we are very pleased with their progress in the field, they also make fabulous family pets, are very settled within the home and have matured into great family/working dogs.

Wickenstone Beawitched (aka Sue) has a wonderful temperament, is quick to learn, eager to retrieve, very biddable, equally happy outside or inside as a house dog, she has been bred from chocolate working/show lines, her sire was a successful working gun dog on a commercial shoot, her previous offspring have gone on to complete gun dog training and have made eager to please but steady and careful dogs who are more than capable of becoming part of a picking up team.

Sire is Field Trial Winner – Tarnedge Run Riot, a handsome young working dog with an excellent future, he is driven, athletic and enthusiastic but also very biddable and loyal, his temperament both with children and other dogs is excellent, his completed Conformation Critique was classed as ‘Very Good’ his Sire ‘Wingbeat Faldo’ has outstanding game finding ability,  picks up on local and commercial shoots and competes in field trials and working tests.
‘Tarnedge Run Riot’ to date has achieved a win and taken several awards in Working Tests, he confidently retrieves both dummies and all types of game, he can take a line even over difficult ground and is a really useful member of his owners picking up team.

All puppies will be reared within our home, so will be accustomed to most household noises and activities, they will be KC Reg, Microchipped and treated from 2 weeks of age for internal and external parasites, all puppies will be vet checked before they leave us at 8 weeks of age, they will go to their new homes with our puppy starter pack (Supply of regular food, puppy pad, comfort blanket, toy, 5 generation pedigree, puppy information sheet and 5 weeks free insurance to cover them in their new home)

Puppies are available to reserve via a deposit and will be available to view from 5 weeks of age (by appointment only)  they will be ready for their new forever homes from the 8th July.

🐶 Buyer’s Checklist for Gun Dogs

Whether you’re buying, selling, or studding a dog, it’s essential to take the right steps to protect yourself—and the animals involved.

  • Always meet the dog in person at the breeder’s home or kennel—never agree to buy without seeing them first.
  • Ask to see the puppies with their Dam (mother), and the Sire (father) if available.
  • Verify all paperwork:
    • Kennel Club (KC) registration number
    • Date of birth
    • Health screening results
  • Prepare questions to ask the breeder. Some helpful ones include:
    • Did you breed the dog(s) yourself?
    • Can I see where they were bred and raised?
    • How old is the Dam, and how many litters has she had?
    • Was the birth natural or via C-section?
    • Are there any known health issues?
    • Can I see documentation for both Dam and Sire?
    • Will the puppy be vaccinated and wormed before purchase?

  • If something feels off, walk away. Don’t ignore red flags.
  • Ask for advice from a trusted third party if you’re unsure.
  • Take your time. This is a big decision—don’t rush it.

  • Puppies should appear happy, healthy, clean, and curious.
  • You should be allowed to see and handle all puppies in the litter, not just the one you're considering.
  • Never buy a puppy younger than 8 weeks old.
  • Avoid any puppies that show signs of illness—e.g. runny eyes, weakness, or diarrhoea.

  • Is the whelping pen clean?
  • Do the dogs have access to fresh water, clean food, and adequate space?
  • The living conditions can say a lot about the breeder’s standards.

  • Ensure you receive the KC registration form and all relevant documents at the time of payment.
  • Write up a simple contract to protect both buyer and seller—especially important in case circumstances change.
  • Never agree to buy a puppy in a car park or public place. Always go to the breeder's premises.
