Description

Dam Fosterwold Honey bee aka Zante is our much-loved family pet, but throughout the winter months she is also a hardworking and reliable picking-up dog. She is the dog I can always rely on for those difficult mid-drive runners, showing excellent game-finding ability and determination in the field.

At home, Zante has an excellent off switch and is the perfect family companion, settling easily into home life and enjoying being part of the family. She is a strong, muscular bitch with a nice head and plenty of substance, weighing 27kg.

I have her son from her first litter who can be seen also.

Sire Upperaughton Hermes aka Harry is part of the Fosterwold Gundogs picking-up team and is a very level-headed young dog with an excellent hunting style and fantastic game-finding ability. He is a strong dog with plenty of power, a lovely broad head, and a rich dark red colour that photos simply do not do justice. He was last weighed at 31kg.

Harry has an impeccable pedigree, being FTCH x OFTAW bred, combining proven working lines with a superb temperament. He has the perfect balance of being an excellent working dog while also being the very best companion. He has the most amazing temperament, a kind nature, and a brilliant off switch both at home and when out and about.

With Harry’s owner also having bred Zante, this is a pairing we know and trust, and we are very excited to see what they produce.

Both parents are Hip/Elbow scored

DNA tested & Eye tested

As a Registered Veterinary Nurse, I will ensure every puppy has everything they need before leaving for their new homes. Zante was wormed daily with Panacur 10% from day 40 of pregnancy, and the puppies will be wormed at 2, 5 and 8 weeks of age.

Before leaving, all puppies will:

* Receive their first vaccination at 6 weeks old (Canigen DHP/L4)

* Be microchipped

* Have a full veterinary health check

The puppies are handled daily and will be well socialised with our adult dogs and pet cats to help give them the best start in life. They will be weaned onto Essential Foods Beginning Large Breed puppy food.

Each puppy will leave with a puppy pack including:

* Food

* Toys

* KC papers

* Microchip paperwork

* Veterinary health check documents

A lifetime of support will always be offered to puppy owners if needed.

Puppies can be viewed from 5 weeks old onwards. Please do not hesitate to get in touch with any questions.

The right homes are extremely important to us. I will ask questions regarding lifestyle, work and home environment to ensure the puppies are matched appropriately.

Due to their breeding, drive and working ability, these puppies will be best suited to experienced, knowledgeable homes and are not recommended for first-time dog owners.

🐶 Buyer’s Checklist for Gun Dogs

Whether you’re buying, selling, or studding a dog, it’s essential to take the right steps to protect yourself—and the animals involved.

  • Always meet the dog in person at the breeder’s home or kennel—never agree to buy without seeing them first.
  • Ask to see the puppies with their Dam (mother), and the Sire (father) if available.
  • Verify all paperwork:
    • Kennel Club (KC) registration number
    • Date of birth
    • Health screening results
  • Prepare questions to ask the breeder. Some helpful ones include:
    • Did you breed the dog(s) yourself?
    • Can I see where they were bred and raised?
    • How old is the Dam, and how many litters has she had?
    • Was the birth natural or via C-section?
    • Are there any known health issues?
    • Can I see documentation for both Dam and Sire?
    • Will the puppy be vaccinated and wormed before purchase?

  • If something feels off, walk away. Don’t ignore red flags.
  • Ask for advice from a trusted third party if you’re unsure.
  • Take your time. This is a big decision—don’t rush it.

  • Puppies should appear happy, healthy, clean, and curious.
  • You should be allowed to see and handle all puppies in the litter, not just the one you're considering.
  • Never buy a puppy younger than 8 weeks old.
  • Avoid any puppies that show signs of illness—e.g. runny eyes, weakness, or diarrhoea.

  • Is the whelping pen clean?
  • Do the dogs have access to fresh water, clean food, and adequate space?
  • The living conditions can say a lot about the breeder’s standards.

  • Ensure you receive the KC registration form and all relevant documents at the time of payment.
  • Write up a simple contract to protect both buyer and seller—especially important in case circumstances change.
  • Never agree to buy a puppy in a car park or public place. Always go to the breeder's premises.
