An exceptional litter of Labrador pups. Our 6th generation of quality working gundogs. These pups will have excellent temperaments and intelligence and will have an abundance of drive and determination. Ideally suited for active homes they will make excellent workers, trialing dogs and pets.
Pups will be KC registered, vet checked, microchipped, wormed and flea'd. They will have had their 1st vacation( Canigen/Nobivac lepto4) you will need to check if your vet offers same brand for the 2nd vaccination. They will come with a copy of KC pedigree, bag of puppy food, piece of bedding and 5 weeks puppy insurance. The new owners will need to transfer the KC ownership into the new owners names.
As both parents of the pups are DNA clear of all 7 genetic conditions required by the Kennel Club this means these pups are Hereditary Clear and can not suffer from or pass on these hereditary conditions.

We are a small hobby kennels based between Wetherby and York. We are 10 minutes from the A1 Wetherby Services. All our dogs are pets and workers. From August on the grouse moors through the pheasant, partridge and duck season to spring pigeon shooting we can be found out working our dogs.

Sire of the pups is Laura Hills Brae (FTCH Jarailstar Hogan of Stauntonvale). Winner of 6 Open Stakes.Brae qualified for the IGL Retriever Championship in 2023 and 2025 and was awarded a Diploma of Merit in 2025. England Gundog Team Member 2024 and 2025 .Awarded top overall dog at the Home International Competition at the Game Fair 2025.
Braes hip score is 2/4 and elbows 0/0 and has current clear eye certificate. DNA clear for prcd-PRA, CNM, SD2, EIC, HNPK, MCD, STGD.
Braes Sire was FTCH Stauntonvale Milk Moose who double qualified for the 2019 IGL Retriever Championship as well as several wins and awards at Field Trials.
Dam of the pups is Kipper who we bred ourselves from our own line of fox red shade of yellow Labradors and she is the 5th generation we have owned. Kipper is Kennel Club registered and she has been health tested beyond the Kennel Club Assured Breeder standard. She has hip score of 2/7=9, elbow score of 0/0 she has a clear eye certificate as at 2August 2025. She is also DNA tested clear for all the genetic tests required by the Kennel Club.
Kipper was very easy to train and is very biddable. She has a great temperament and very intelligent. Kipper has been a fantastic addition to our team of labradors that work during the shooting season picking up on various shooting estates in North Yorkshire. She is a great all rounder. She is a great picking up bitch but also a great beating dog or a peg dog
Kippers sire is Billy Steel juniors black dog FTCH Harperrig Breac (Col) who won the 2018 IGL Retriever Championship. His hip score is 3/6 and he has a clear eye certificate, he is either hereditary clear or tested clear of the genetic tests from his era. Billy is one of the top Gundog handlers in the country and is an A panel judge and judges all over the country and has judged the IGL. He was telling me that on his dogs side he has 4 generations that have qualified for the IGL and he has won a Diploma, a 4th place and two championship winners. Whilst Billy trails his dogs he still works his dogs and they must have the stamina to do a full days picking up in the Leadburn hills near Biggar, Scotland.
Kippers Dame is Marstonmoor Lucy who is also extensively health tested and is sired by International FTCH Beiley Aguzannis of Fendawood the winner of the IGL retriever championship 2016. He was described as 'the best of the best" by the IGL Hon Secratary following his IGL Retriever Championship win in 2016. He has represented England many times and has a long list of Field Trial successes. David was the England Captain for approximately 10 years.

🐶 Buyer’s Checklist for Gun Dogs
Whether you’re buying, selling, or studding a dog, it’s essential to take the right steps to protect yourself—and the animals involved.
- Always meet the dog in person at the breeder’s home or kennel—never agree to buy without seeing them first.
- Ask to see the puppies with their Dam (mother), and the Sire (father) if available.

Verify all paperwork:
- Kennel Club (KC) registration number
- Date of birth
- Health screening results

Prepare questions to ask the breeder. Some helpful ones include:
- Did you breed the dog(s) yourself?
- Can I see where they were bred and raised?
- How old is the Dam, and how many litters has she had?
- Was the birth natural or via C-section?
- Are there any known health issues?
- Can I see documentation for both Dam and Sire?
- Will the puppy be vaccinated and wormed before purchase?
- If something feels off, walk away. Don’t ignore red flags.
- Ask for advice from a trusted third party if you’re unsure.
- Take your time. This is a big decision—don’t rush it.
- Puppies should appear happy, healthy, clean, and curious.
- You should be allowed to see and handle all puppies in the litter, not just the one you're considering.
- Never buy a puppy younger than 8 weeks old.
- Avoid any puppies that show signs of illness—e.g. runny eyes, weakness, or diarrhoea.
- Is the whelping pen clean?
- Do the dogs have access to fresh water, clean food, and adequate space?
- The living conditions can say a lot about the breeder’s standards.
- Ensure you receive the KC registration form and all relevant documents at the time of payment.
- Write up a simple contract to protect both buyer and seller—especially important in case circumstances change.
- Never agree to buy a puppy in a car park or public place. Always go to the breeder's premises.
