Description

What can we say about Bramble (Kensesqui Cherry Delight) and Billy’s (Tudorcourt Happy) litter – scrumptious? adorable? delicious? Well, yes to all of the above, but quite frankly you could say that about most young labrador litters couldn’t you? So what is it that makes this litter stand out above the crowd? Well firstly both Bramble and Billy are very well bred – and genuinely so with pedigrees going back 28 generations and Billy’s & Bramble’s Field Trial Champions in both their families looking like they are packed with Olympic Gold Medal winners picked out in red across their respective family trees. And alongside that there is the Health Testing for both parents – with elbows at 0 and hips of 9 and 6 respectively and eyes Unaffected on the BVA/KC/ISDS scheme and clear on all DNA screening, these pups come from very good stock indeed. But is that what really makes them special? Add into the mix the fact that mum is a sleek and fit jet black and dad is a beautiful traditional yellow, their pups are a fabulous mix from deep, almost tawny yellowy red (we got the red in there!) through to otter black making up 4 yellow boys, 4 black boys and one black girl the colours are a myriad of choice. What’s it like having these two exceptional labs in our family? Well – great fun and hugely satisfying as they are companions to everything we do here on our farm on the Essex/Suffolk border, whether that is picking up and beating in the winter before lying in front of the fire in the evening through to swims in the river and a stroll through the meadows in the summer, Bramble and Billy are very bright, very willing and loving dogs whose pups will make a valuable addition to any household. All the pups are loved and cared for by us – and as well as play they are encouraged to learn from an early age from following a whistle to peeing and pooing on grass (well most of the time!). They come with comprehensive care notes, contract and a puppy pack, together with 5 weeks’ free insurance from the Kennel Club. If you like what you hear and would like to meet Bramble, Billy and us, we ask for an initial chat on the phone before being invited here to meet everyone. If we all decide to go ahead, then you will be invited for play dates, pre take home training as well as regular video pupdates. Boys are £1350 and girl £1500. We look forward to hearing from you Daniel & Emma

🐶 Buyer’s Checklist for Gun Dogs

Whether you’re buying, selling, or studding a dog, it’s essential to take the right steps to protect yourself—and the animals involved.

  • Always meet the dog in person at the breeder’s home or kennel—never agree to buy without seeing them first.
  • Ask to see the puppies with their Dam (mother), and the Sire (father) if available.
  • Verify all paperwork:
    • Kennel Club (KC) registration number
    • Date of birth
    • Health screening results
  • Prepare questions to ask the breeder. Some helpful ones include:
    • Did you breed the dog(s) yourself?
    • Can I see where they were bred and raised?
    • How old is the Dam, and how many litters has she had?
    • Was the birth natural or via C-section?
    • Are there any known health issues?
    • Can I see documentation for both Dam and Sire?
    • Will the puppy be vaccinated and wormed before purchase?

  • If something feels off, walk away. Don’t ignore red flags.
  • Ask for advice from a trusted third party if you’re unsure.
  • Take your time. This is a big decision—don’t rush it.

  • Puppies should appear happy, healthy, clean, and curious.
  • You should be allowed to see and handle all puppies in the litter, not just the one you're considering.
  • Never buy a puppy younger than 8 weeks old.
  • Avoid any puppies that show signs of illness—e.g. runny eyes, weakness, or diarrhoea.

  • Is the whelping pen clean?
  • Do the dogs have access to fresh water, clean food, and adequate space?
  • The living conditions can say a lot about the breeder’s standards.

  • Ensure you receive the KC registration form and all relevant documents at the time of payment.
  • Write up a simple contract to protect both buyer and seller—especially important in case circumstances change.
  • Never agree to buy a puppy in a car park or public place. Always go to the breeder's premises.
