Stunning black Labrador for stud

County / Town: Worcestershire

Description

We are very proud to offer Stan for Stud as the only FULLY health tested black Labrador locally.

Where do we start with Stan, he is kind and gentle with a lovely personality he has to be the most gentle boy I have ever owned. He sleeps on our bed by night and by day a rough tough working boy, well he thinks so.

He is prcd-PRA, SD2, CNM, HNPK, EIC STDG and MCD clear and with 5:2 hips and 0 Elbows, unaffected Eyes.

He is black carrying Yellow.

He is offered for stud with great confidence and a fantastic example of a kind loving Labrador. NONE of his off spring will be affected by any of these diseases, helping you create a responsible breeding programme.

He has come from a working background, his mother is a FTW and brother will go on to trial with the renowned Arcklebear Gundogs where he was bred and his Father is the stunningly handsome Copperbirch Ross OFTW, he picks up 60+ days a season and very much one of our reliable team members. He hunts hard and loves his job. He is a pleasure to train and a real softie at home and plays happily with all dogs.

He has been an exceptional chilled dog growing up and settled in straight away, who thoroughly enjoys being out working, once you have met him you instantly fall in love with his kind personality.

We offer a completely different service to most other stud dog owners in the area, where it’s very personal and homely environment, you are looked after from the first nervous phone call right through until your puppies leave. References available from previous matings with glowing references and a friendly welcoming service offered from first phone call through to the puppies leaving your home, we have even been known to help at a whelping. .

Making us slightly different we are also able to offer ovulation tests, one is included with your stud covering Saliva, Cytology or Progesterone using AIA360 to try and catch the optimum time to cover, this has proved successful for previously difficult to cover bitches elsewhere, but also help make the mating less stressful. You must supply the blood sample from your vets for progesterone

🐶 Buyer’s Checklist for Gun Dogs

Whether you’re buying, selling, or studding a dog, it’s essential to take the right steps to protect yourself—and the animals involved.

  • Always meet the dog in person at the breeder’s home or kennel—never agree to buy without seeing them first.
  • Ask to see the puppies with their Dam (mother), and the Sire (father) if available.
  • Verify all paperwork:
    • Kennel Club (KC) registration number
    • Date of birth
    • Health screening results
  • Prepare questions to ask the breeder. Some helpful ones include:
    • Did you breed the dog(s) yourself?
    • Can I see where they were bred and raised?
    • How old is the Dam, and how many litters has she had?
    • Was the birth natural or via C-section?
    • Are there any known health issues?
    • Can I see documentation for both Dam and Sire?
    • Will the puppy be vaccinated and wormed before purchase?
  • If something feels off, walk away. Don’t ignore red flags.
  • Ask for advice from a trusted third party if you’re unsure.
  • Take your time. This is a big decision—don’t rush it.
  • Puppies should appear happy, healthy, clean, and curious.
  • You should be allowed to see and handle all puppies in the litter, not just the one you're considering.
  • Never buy a puppy younger than 8 weeks old.
  • Avoid any puppies that show signs of illness—e.g. runny eyes, weakness, or diarrhoea.
  • Is the whelping pen clean?
  • Do the dogs have access to fresh water, clean food, and adequate space?
  • The living conditions can say a lot about the breeder’s standards.
  • Ensure you receive the KC registration form and all relevant documents at the time of payment.
  • Write up a simple contract to protect both buyer and seller—especially important in case circumstances change.
  • Never agree to buy a puppy in a car park or public place. Always go to the breeder's premises.

🧠 Final Thought

Buying a gun dog is your responsibility. Do your homework on both the breed and the breeder. Make sure your decision is informed, confident, and in the best interest of the dog.
