Dog of a Lifetime Opportunity

County / Town: Shropshire

Description

Meet Roo- 11 month old home bred bitch from immaculate health tested working parents, making her hereditary clear of all 7 health tests, she was the pick of the litter who is ready to go on now to be the dog of a lifetime for someone.

Roo is super steady (a very mature head on young shoulders!), highly intelligent and has taken to her training like a duck to water. She is very eager to please and will do anything for that pat on the chest.

She has done a few days on a shoot at the back end of the season where she was superbly behaved, calm and willing, retrieving pheasants beautifully to hand using a lovely soft mouth. She will go on to be an amazing peg dog in the future.

Retrieves all seen and memory dummies, she will pick the more basic blinds and is ready to continue this education. Swims like a fish

Walks perfectly on or off lead at heel, great recall and just overall eager to please.

She is used to other dogs, and children and is always well behaved. Currently Kennelled but will take no time to adjust to being in the home.

If you would like videos of her training please let me know

She is ready to go on and be your best friend!

🐶 Buyer’s Checklist for Gun Dogs

Whether you’re buying, selling, or studding a dog, it’s essential to take the right steps to protect yourself—and the animals involved.

  • Always meet the dog in person at the breeder’s home or kennel—never agree to buy without seeing them first.
  • Ask to see the puppies with their Dam (mother), and the Sire (father) if available.
  • Verify all paperwork:
    • Kennel Club (KC) registration number
    • Date of birth
    • Health screening results
  • Prepare questions to ask the breeder. Some helpful ones include:
    • Did you breed the dog(s) yourself?
    • Can I see where they were bred and raised?
    • How old is the Dam, and how many litters has she had?
    • Was the birth natural or via C-section?
    • Are there any known health issues?
    • Can I see documentation for both Dam and Sire?
    • Will the puppy be vaccinated and wormed before purchase?
  • If something feels off, walk away. Don’t ignore red flags.
  • Ask for advice from a trusted third party if you’re unsure.
  • Take your time. This is a big decision—don’t rush it.
  • Puppies should appear happy, healthy, clean, and curious.
  • You should be allowed to see and handle all puppies in the litter, not just the one you're considering.
  • Never buy a puppy younger than 8 weeks old.
  • Avoid any puppies that show signs of illness—e.g. runny eyes, weakness, or diarrhoea.
  • Is the whelping pen clean?
  • Do the dogs have access to fresh water, clean food, and adequate space?
  • The living conditions can say a lot about the breeder’s standards.
  • Ensure you receive the KC registration form and all relevant documents at the time of payment.
  • Write up a simple contract to protect both buyer and seller—especially important in case circumstances change.
  • Never agree to buy a puppy in a car park or public place. Always go to the breeder's premises.

🧠 Final Thought

Buying a gun dog is your responsibility. Do your homework on both the breed and the breeder. Make sure your decision is informed, confident, and in the best interest of the dog.
