KC reg. Cocker Pups, fully health tested, impeccable pedigree

County / Town: North Yorkshire

Description

Update: One golden boy and one black boy remaining

We have an outstanding litter of pups. They have a Field Trial Champion Sire that we've know since a puppy, as we've trained alongside him with our own dogs. The Dam is worked throughout the season and features as part of our gundog demonstration team during summer displays at country shows. This is the dam's second litter - we kept a puppy from her first litter who became a Field Trial Winner last year.
Both parents are health tested, which means the pups are hereditary clear of prcd-PRA, FN, AMS and PP.
We are Cocker specialists, Ryan is a KC A-panel judge for spaniels and is Gundog correspondent for Shooting Times and Sporting Gun magazines respectively. We breed very occasionally and are keeping a pup ourselves. We own the sire of the dam (FTCH Broadmeafarm Charlie) and also her dam (FTAW Blackswale Seren of Farlavale. Plus her son (FTW Farlavale Crunchie). Pups are of course KC registered, docked and chipped. They have also had their first vaccination.

The pups are being raised in a busy home environment and with the best start in life.  We have bred these pups for us to keep one ourselves. You can feel safe in the knowledge that you are buying from experienced and reputable Gundog Trainers able to provide any advice or support you need. All pups will go to their new homes with a Vetspec puppy pack and free access to module 1 of Farlavale's online training videos, SpanielPro which provide guidance and training from the word go. Please get in touch with any questions and to be considered for one of these perfect pups.

🐶 Buyer’s Checklist for Gun Dogs

Whether you’re buying, selling, or studding a dog, it’s essential to take the right steps to protect yourself—and the animals involved.

  • Always meet the dog in person at the breeder’s home or kennel—never agree to buy without seeing them first.
  • Ask to see the puppies with their Dam (mother), and the Sire (father) if available.
  • Verify all paperwork:
    • Kennel Club (KC) registration number
    • Date of birth
    • Health screening results
  • Prepare questions to ask the breeder. Some helpful ones include:
    • Did you breed the dog(s) yourself?
    • Can I see where they were bred and raised?
    • How old is the Dam, and how many litters has she had?
    • Was the birth natural or via C-section?
    • Are there any known health issues?
    • Can I see documentation for both Dam and Sire?
    • Will the puppy be vaccinated and wormed before purchase?
  • If something feels off, walk away. Don’t ignore red flags.
  • Ask for advice from a trusted third party if you’re unsure.
  • Take your time. This is a big decision—don’t rush it.
  • Puppies should appear happy, healthy, clean, and curious.
  • You should be allowed to see and handle all puppies in the litter, not just the one you're considering.
  • Never buy a puppy younger than 8 weeks old.
  • Avoid any puppies that show signs of illness—e.g. runny eyes, weakness, or diarrhoea.
  • Is the whelping pen clean?
  • Do the dogs have access to fresh water, clean food, and adequate space?
  • The living conditions can say a lot about the breeder’s standards.
  • Ensure you receive the KC registration form and all relevant documents at the time of payment.
  • Write up a simple contract to protect both buyer and seller—especially important in case circumstances change.
  • Never agree to buy a puppy in a car park or public place. Always go to the breeder's premises.

🧠 Final Thought

Buying a gun dog is your responsibility. Do your homework on both the breed and the breeder. Make sure your decision is informed, confident, and in the best interest of the dog.
