Description

*** All puppies from this litter are now reserved pending viewings, however if you would like to join our reserve list, or a list for any future litters please get in touch ***

We have 4 black puppies available from a repeat mating of Fieldhead Flake (Pip) to FTW/OFTW Heathcroft Flyn of Tarncrag (Logo).

Pip is a small compact dog, weighing approx 9kg. Pip lives to work, where she enjoys being out over 30+ days a season. She is a keen hunter as well as a strong retriever, proving that distance is no issue for a little Cocker Spaniel. Pip is also an amazing family dog – incredibly loving and has been easy to train. She is health tested and clear for AMS, FN, prcd-PRA as well as having a clear eye certificate and 0 Gonio.

Logo’s ability as a working dog speaks for itself with the achievement of FTW/OFTW and a Diploma of Merit at the 2024 Cocker Championships. Logo is also health tested and clear for AMS, FN, PRA, hip score 3/3, elbow score 0 and a clear eye certificate and 0 Gonio. More information on Logo can be found at Logo | Tarncrag Gundogs.

We initially matched Pip to Logo to create puppies that would have the best of both of their characteristics, while retaining that small compact size. Their first litter are now approaching 18 months old, and are succeeding in both active pet and gundog homes, showing potential in competing in the future. Feedback from the last litter was everything we had hoped for and more, so therefore a repeat mating of the two seemed a no brainer.

Puppies will be viewed with Pip and a full sibling from her last litter that we have kept.

Further photos and videos of our dogs and puppies can be found @meadowbeckgundogs on Instagram.

Puppies are legally docked and had their dew claws removed. They will also be Kennel Club registered, microchipped and had their first vaccinations before going to their new homes.

Puppies will have received wormer and flea treatment at 2, 4, 6 and 8 weeks old and will leave with 5 weeks insurance.

The puppies are regularly handled and will be following a socialisation plan which includes children.

Once you have chosen your puppy, we will keep you regularly updated with pictures and videos and are welcome for you to visit as much as you feel necessary.

The puppies will come to you with a puppy pack, which includes a copy of their pedigree, a bag of Skinners puppy food, and other items to help your puppy settle.

Although these puppies will make excellent working dogs, we are happy for puppies to go to non-working homes where they will do an activity or undertake gundog/obedience style training. We wish this only so that you get the most out of your puppy as they love to learn.

They will be ready to go from around the 14th of July once they are 8 weeks old.

🐶 Buyer’s Checklist for Gun Dogs

Whether you’re buying, selling, or studding a dog, it’s essential to take the right steps to protect yourself—and the animals involved.

  • Always meet the dog in person at the breeder’s home or kennel—never agree to buy without seeing them first.
  • Ask to see the puppies with their Dam (mother), and the Sire (father) if available.
  • Verify all paperwork:
    • Kennel Club (KC) registration number
    • Date of birth
    • Health screening results
  • Prepare questions to ask the breeder. Some helpful ones include:
    • Did you breed the dog(s) yourself?
    • Can I see where they were bred and raised?
    • How old is the Dam, and how many litters has she had?
    • Was the birth natural or via C-section?
    • Are there any known health issues?
    • Can I see documentation for both Dam and Sire?
    • Will the puppy be vaccinated and wormed before purchase?

  • If something feels off, walk away. Don’t ignore red flags.
  • Ask for advice from a trusted third party if you’re unsure.
  • Take your time. This is a big decision—don’t rush it.

  • Puppies should appear happy, healthy, clean, and curious.
  • You should be allowed to see and handle all puppies in the litter, not just the one you're considering.
  • Never buy a puppy younger than 8 weeks old.
  • Avoid any puppies that show signs of illness—e.g. runny eyes, weakness, or diarrhoea.

  • Is the whelping pen clean?
  • Do the dogs have access to fresh water, clean food, and adequate space?
  • The living conditions can say a lot about the breeder’s standards.

  • Ensure you receive the KC registration form and all relevant documents at the time of payment.
  • Write up a simple contract to protect both buyer and seller—especially important in case circumstances change.
  • Never agree to buy a puppy in a car park or public place. Always go to the breeder's premises.
