Description

Pre-mating advert for Cocker Spaniel Puppies.

The mating is expected to be end of February next year so puppies would be expected to arrive at some time in late April all being well and provided the mating is successful.

Daisy our bitch is a lovely working dog. She is still currently in training and is proving to be fantastic, particularly in the retrieving and picking up. She is unregistered; however, has the most fantastic nature and is a dream to have in the house. She is calm in the house yet maintains an on switch when out in the field training. She is calm, patient and very lovable. We often describe her as a Cocker Spaniel shaped ball of Velcro as she always wants to be by your side. She is 1.5 years old at the moment and will be 2 by the time of mating. Daisy is quite a leggy spaniel, 16kg and ~16” at the shoulder and we hoped to breed a bit more bone into her offspring and reduce the size, so we have decided to choose Kinmurtyre Fred Flintstone of Kodagorse for this mating.

Kinmurtyre Fred Flintstone of Kodagorse (Fred) is a 12kg and 14.5” at the shoulder Cocker Spaniel so we hope with the mating that the offspring will be smaller and stockier than Daisy. Fred is a fantastic working dog and regularly goes out beating and picking up whilst, like Daisy, also has a brilliant off switch and lives in the house. Fred comes from some fantastic bloodlines (Brybwll - bred by Jon Rees in Wales) so we expect this to indrodice some blood into  Daisy’s offspring.

Fred as been fully health tested. His results are as follows:

FN Hereditary clear

AMS Hereditary clear

prcd-PRA Hereditary clear

BVA/KC/ISDS Eye scheme Unaffected

PLA GRADE: 0

PP clear

If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to get in touch and we will be happy to have conversations about the mating with anyone. We will be creating a waitlist for this mating to please do let me know if you wish to be added and I will contact you at various points throughout the process to update and check you are still interested. By joining the waitlist, we are not binding you to have a puppy, it is purely so we can gauge interest and should the puppies not be to your liking, you are more than welcome to let us know.

🐶 Buyer’s Checklist for Gun Dogs

Whether you’re buying, selling, or studding a dog, it’s essential to take the right steps to protect yourself—and the animals involved.

  • Always meet the dog in person at the breeder’s home or kennel—never agree to buy without seeing them first.
  • Ask to see the puppies with their Dam (mother), and the Sire (father) if available.
  • Verify all paperwork:
    • Kennel Club (KC) registration number
    • Date of birth
    • Health screening results
  • Prepare questions to ask the breeder. Some helpful ones include:
    • Did you breed the dog(s) yourself?
    • Can I see where they were bred and raised?
    • How old is the Dam, and how many litters has she had?
    • Was the birth natural or via C-section?
    • Are there any known health issues?
    • Can I see documentation for both Dam and Sire?
    • Will the puppy be vaccinated and wormed before purchase?

  • If something feels off, walk away. Don’t ignore red flags.
  • Ask for advice from a trusted third party if you’re unsure.
  • Take your time. This is a big decision—don’t rush it.

  • Puppies should appear happy, healthy, clean, and curious.
  • You should be allowed to see and handle all puppies in the litter, not just the one you're considering.
  • Never buy a puppy younger than 8 weeks old.
  • Avoid any puppies that show signs of illness—e.g. runny eyes, weakness, or diarrhoea.

  • Is the whelping pen clean?
  • Do the dogs have access to fresh water, clean food, and adequate space?
  • The living conditions can say a lot about the breeder’s standards.

  • Ensure you receive the KC registration form and all relevant documents at the time of payment.
  • Write up a simple contract to protect both buyer and seller—especially important in case circumstances change.
  • Never agree to buy a puppy in a car park or public place. Always go to the breeder's premises.
