KC Golden Cocker puppies

Reared in our home within a shooting estate in the Scottish Borders, we specialise in training spaniels for a variety of purposes including deer stalking, game bird picking up and hunting as well as taking part in field tests.

Availability

We have two English Cocker Spaniel dog puppies available to be viewed. Both are a golden red colour. Both are handsome big boned types with a deep square muzzled and boxy frames. They already have nice action and style and would make lovely hunting dogs, their breeding credentials back this up.

Breeding

Dam and sire have been health tested by both DNA testing and the very important eye testing that is carried out by a qualified vet, both have had the two required exams for GONIOSCOPY and PRA, both have passed with the lowest possible grades receiving certificates  (GNOIO 0) (PRA UNAFFECTED)

Dam (Stuart’s Game) “Tango” is a small and compact but naturally well muscled dark red bitch. She has a feminine intelligent look and often ‘smiles’ in a greeting which is very endearing. She was easy to train as she is a born people pleaser and despite being very smart was never headstrong enough to second guess what you ask of her. A natural retriever Tango feels the instinctive need to feather her nest witn as many objects as she can find, slippers, hair brushes and a variety of childrens toys!

Sire Tarncrags Razzamataz has an impressive pedigree with some well known names who have won many awards for their famous kennels. With his owner Fran Ardley he was made up to be a FTCH very shortly after entering opens. He is a driven, powerful hunter with style even in the hardest of cover.

Both sire and dam have wonderful natures, both gifted with the “off switch” thats important for dogs that are expected to live in the house as pets as well as working gundogs.

This is Tangos second litter and a repeat pairing with Taz, from the last litter I kept a red dog “Boomer” who is now a valuable member of the team, he is an extremely handsome well boned dog with super hunting style/action, he is an extremely determined retriever and will stop at nothing to get his quarry, this boy was born half trained!
Tango, Taz and Boomer are completely silent in work and at home
Tango and Boomer can be seen with the puppies

🐶 Buyer’s Checklist for Gun Dogs

Whether you’re buying, selling, or studding a dog, it’s essential to take the right steps to protect yourself—and the animals involved.

  • Always meet the dog in person at the breeder’s home or kennel—never agree to buy without seeing them first.
  • Ask to see the puppies with their Dam (mother), and the Sire (father) if available.
  • Verify all paperwork:
    • Kennel Club (KC) registration number
    • Date of birth
    • Health screening results
  • Prepare questions to ask the breeder. Some helpful ones include:
    • Did you breed the dog(s) yourself?
    • Can I see where they were bred and raised?
    • How old is the Dam, and how many litters has she had?
    • Was the birth natural or via C-section?
    • Are there any known health issues?
    • Can I see documentation for both Dam and Sire?
    • Will the puppy be vaccinated and wormed before purchase?

  • If something feels off, walk away. Don’t ignore red flags.
  • Ask for advice from a trusted third party if you’re unsure.
  • Take your time. This is a big decision—don’t rush it.

  • Puppies should appear happy, healthy, clean, and curious.
  • You should be allowed to see and handle all puppies in the litter, not just the one you're considering.
  • Never buy a puppy younger than 8 weeks old.
  • Avoid any puppies that show signs of illness—e.g. runny eyes, weakness, or diarrhoea.

  • Is the whelping pen clean?
  • Do the dogs have access to fresh water, clean food, and adequate space?
  • The living conditions can say a lot about the breeder’s standards.

  • Ensure you receive the KC registration form and all relevant documents at the time of payment.
  • Write up a simple contract to protect both buyer and seller—especially important in case circumstances change.
  • Never agree to buy a puppy in a car park or public place. Always go to the breeder's premises.
