Description

One boy available
One girl available
Ready to go to their new homes

We are pleased to share details of our litter of working cocker spaniels. Bred from carefully selected parents with proven working ability and sound temperaments.

Sire: SOURMASH SMOOTH

Dam: CLAYTONWOLD MILDRED

Both parents are AMS, FN & prcd-PRA clear, BVA eye scheme unaffected, PLA grade 0. Puppies will therefore be hereditary clear of AMS, FN and prcd-PRA.

Mildred is our gamekeeper’s dog and a strong example of a true working Cocker: intelligent, biddable, responsive and consistent in the field. The sire complements her well, coming from equally respected, capable working lines. He is a working dog as part of a picking up team, which he excels in.

This pairing combines established, well-regarded working pedigrees, with multiple Field Trial winners and champions throughout both sides. The litter has been bred with emphasis on working aptitude, trainability, structure and health.

Puppies are being raised within our busy family environment, ensuring they are:

  • Well-handled from birth
  • Exposed to typical household sights and sounds
  • Confident and accustomed to people and daily activity
  • Brought up around young children and dogs

From 5–6 weeks we will begin assessing individual temperaments and will assist in matching each puppy to the most appropriate home and intended work or lifestyle.

Puppies will leave with:

  • KC Registration
  • Docking & dew claw removal (legal certificate provided)
  • Microchip
  • First vaccination
  • Full vet check
  • Wormed every 2 weeks
  • Weaned onto raw (chicken & tripe)

Mum will be available to view when visiting puppies. Puppies will be ready to leave from 14/11/2025.

Further photos, pedigree details and updates available on request.

Genuine, committed working or active homes only.

🐶 Buyer’s Checklist for Gun Dogs

Whether you’re buying, selling, or studding a dog, it’s essential to take the right steps to protect yourself—and the animals involved.

  • Always meet the dog in person at the breeder’s home or kennel—never agree to buy without seeing them first.
  • Ask to see the puppies with their Dam (mother), and the Sire (father) if available.
  • Verify all paperwork:
    • Kennel Club (KC) registration number
    • Date of birth
    • Health screening results
  • Prepare questions to ask the breeder. Some helpful ones include:
    • Did you breed the dog(s) yourself?
    • Can I see where they were bred and raised?
    • How old is the Dam, and how many litters has she had?
    • Was the birth natural or via C-section?
    • Are there any known health issues?
    • Can I see documentation for both Dam and Sire?
    • Will the puppy be vaccinated and wormed before purchase?

  • If something feels off, walk away. Don’t ignore red flags.
  • Ask for advice from a trusted third party if you’re unsure.
  • Take your time. This is a big decision—don’t rush it.

  • Puppies should appear happy, healthy, clean, and curious.
  • You should be allowed to see and handle all puppies in the litter, not just the one you're considering.
  • Never buy a puppy younger than 8 weeks old.
  • Avoid any puppies that show signs of illness—e.g. runny eyes, weakness, or diarrhoea.

  • Is the whelping pen clean?
  • Do the dogs have access to fresh water, clean food, and adequate space?
  • The living conditions can say a lot about the breeder’s standards.

  • Ensure you receive the KC registration form and all relevant documents at the time of payment.
  • Write up a simple contract to protect both buyer and seller—especially important in case circumstances change.
  • Never agree to buy a puppy in a car park or public place. Always go to the breeder's premises.
