Description

***2 pups spoken for***

Following a successful mating, we are delighted to open our waiting list for our next Cocker Spaniel litter at Meadowbeck gundogs (due early January 2026).

Dam

Jill (Drumnascamp Cranberry) is a highly capable working dog. She has excellent natural ability and a real eagerness to please, while having the all important off-switch. Although hunting is her forte, she is a highly capable retriever who has the ability pick fur and feather of all sizes. Although she hasn't competed herself in field trials, her full litter brother, OFTAW Drumnascamp Condor has had success, being awarded a DOM at the Irish Kennel Club Cocker Championships in 2024.

Jill is also an excellent family dog, with a lovable personality and a real softness.

Jill is health tested and clear for: AMS, FN and PRA, as well as having a clear eye test.

More videos and pictures of Jill can be found on Instagram @meadowbeckgundogs.

Sire

Sid (OFTAW Greengates Ogre) is an honest dog, desperate to please and easy to train. He has bags of drive, but also with an off-switch meaning he can sit calmly at both trials and shoot days. He will face any cover and shows plenty of style while hunting, which is proven in his field trial record of 2 x 2nds and 3 x 3rds in Open Trials so far in his career, on both rabbits and pheasants.

Sid is health tested and clear for: AMS, FN, PRA and PP, as well as having a clear eye test.

We have been looking for a suitable dog to complement Jill's personality and ability for a long time!

By combining both Jill and Sid's personalities and abilities together, we hope to create Cocker Spaniels that are not only capable at doing a ‘job’, but also ones that will make excellent family members.

Puppy Information

All puppies will begin life in our family home, progressing to our purpose built kennel unit. By doing this we can ensure puppies can be well socialised and handled, as well as begin their toilet training - ensuring puppies will thrive once they go to their forever homes!

Each puppy will be:

  • Legally docked and dew clawed
  • Kennel Club registered
  • Vet checked, microchipped and received their 1st vaccination
  • Weighed weekly
  • Fully weaned and followed a worming plan

Puppies will leave with a puppy pack, and a lifetime of support from us if needed.

The litter is due early January, therefore meaning puppies will be ready to leave for their new homes from early March. We are happy to keep hold of puppies for longer if required e.g. holidays.

Please get in touch if you would like any more information, or to be added to our waiting list.

🐶 Buyer’s Checklist for Gun Dogs

Whether you’re buying, selling, or studding a dog, it’s essential to take the right steps to protect yourself—and the animals involved.

  • Always meet the dog in person at the breeder’s home or kennel—never agree to buy without seeing them first.
  • Ask to see the puppies with their Dam (mother), and the Sire (father) if available.
  • Verify all paperwork:
    • Kennel Club (KC) registration number
    • Date of birth
    • Health screening results
  • Prepare questions to ask the breeder. Some helpful ones include:
    • Did you breed the dog(s) yourself?
    • Can I see where they were bred and raised?
    • How old is the Dam, and how many litters has she had?
    • Was the birth natural or via C-section?
    • Are there any known health issues?
    • Can I see documentation for both Dam and Sire?
    • Will the puppy be vaccinated and wormed before purchase?

  • If something feels off, walk away. Don’t ignore red flags.
  • Ask for advice from a trusted third party if you’re unsure.
  • Take your time. This is a big decision—don’t rush it.

  • Puppies should appear happy, healthy, clean, and curious.
  • You should be allowed to see and handle all puppies in the litter, not just the one you're considering.
  • Never buy a puppy younger than 8 weeks old.
  • Avoid any puppies that show signs of illness—e.g. runny eyes, weakness, or diarrhoea.

  • Is the whelping pen clean?
  • Do the dogs have access to fresh water, clean food, and adequate space?
  • The living conditions can say a lot about the breeder’s standards.

  • Ensure you receive the KC registration form and all relevant documents at the time of payment.
  • Write up a simple contract to protect both buyer and seller—especially important in case circumstances change.
  • Never agree to buy a puppy in a car park or public place. Always go to the breeder's premises.
