Description

I am a dog trainer and canine behaviourist, and I’m now looking for a female Working Cocker Spaniel, 6 months –2 years old, to become my next working partner and family member. She will be trained to search for water leaks and invasive species.

I’m looking for a female dog who is:

• Willing to work and learn

• Happy, optimistic, and enthusiastic

• Social and confident around people, children, and other dogs

• Environmentally stable and not easily scared

• Curious and eager to learn new tasks

• Not spayed

• Registered in kennel club and has a pedigree

• Preferably on the smaller side (under 11kg)

Dogs living with us get plenty of exercise and mental stimulation – but they also need to be able to relax and cuddle with our children (ages 4 and 6) on the sofa in the evenings.

About us:

We live in northern Sweden with the forest right behind our house and a large fenced garden. I work from home, so the dogs almost always have company. Our daily life includes long walks, mental enrichment, and training such as nosework, agility, rally obedience, and lots more fun activities. A dog living with us gets an active life, plenty of love, and lots of enjoyable work. We have two kids, 4 and 6 years old and an older calm Aussie.

Please send me a message with some information about your Cocker girl. I look forward to hearing from you!

NOTE: I have family in Scotland so I'm happy to come and pick up dog but I am based in Sweden so you have to be willing to get a passport for your dog. I can cover costs of course.

ONLY email please!

🐶 Buyer’s Checklist for Gun Dogs

Whether you’re buying, selling, or studding a dog, it’s essential to take the right steps to protect yourself—and the animals involved.

  • Always meet the dog in person at the breeder’s home or kennel—never agree to buy without seeing them first.
  • Ask to see the puppies with their Dam (mother), and the Sire (father) if available.
  • Verify all paperwork:
    • Kennel Club (KC) registration number
    • Date of birth
    • Health screening results
  • Prepare questions to ask the breeder. Some helpful ones include:
    • Did you breed the dog(s) yourself?
    • Can I see where they were bred and raised?
    • How old is the Dam, and how many litters has she had?
    • Was the birth natural or via C-section?
    • Are there any known health issues?
    • Can I see documentation for both Dam and Sire?
    • Will the puppy be vaccinated and wormed before purchase?

  • If something feels off, walk away. Don’t ignore red flags.
  • Ask for advice from a trusted third party if you’re unsure.
  • Take your time. This is a big decision—don’t rush it.

  • Puppies should appear happy, healthy, clean, and curious.
  • You should be allowed to see and handle all puppies in the litter, not just the one you're considering.
  • Never buy a puppy younger than 8 weeks old.
  • Avoid any puppies that show signs of illness—e.g. runny eyes, weakness, or diarrhoea.

  • Is the whelping pen clean?
  • Do the dogs have access to fresh water, clean food, and adequate space?
  • The living conditions can say a lot about the breeder’s standards.

  • Ensure you receive the KC registration form and all relevant documents at the time of payment.
  • Write up a simple contract to protect both buyer and seller—especially important in case circumstances change.
  • Never agree to buy a puppy in a car park or public place. Always go to the breeder's premises.
