Description
Labrador × Golden Retriever Working-Bred Puppies
We are delighted to introduce our beautiful litter of Labrador × Golden Retriever puppies, born on 11th September 2026 and lovingly raised in our family home in Wirral, Merseyside.
We have 6 puppies — 4 girls and 2 boys — who are receiving extensive individual handling, early socialisation and confidence-building experiences from the moment they were born.
Price: £1,450
Deposit: £350, deducted from the purchase price
🎯 Working Background
These puppies come from working-bred parents with genuine field and gundog backgrounds.
Dad, Monty, comes from champion gundog lines, while Mum, Betsy, has herself been worked in the field and is now the dog of a professional dog trainer.
This combination offers the potential for versatile, intelligent and biddable dogs that could suit gundog training, retrieving, shooting environments, working activities or an active outdoor lifestyle, while also having the temperament and upbringing to make wonderful family companions.
We are not claiming that every puppy will become a working gundog, but we believe their breeding and early upbringing make them particularly interesting to owners looking for a dog with working potential.
🤎 Mum – Betsy
Betsy is our much-loved KC registered Labrador Retriever, born in March 2023.
She has been worked in the field and is now the dog of a professional dog trainer. She is intelligent, affectionate, loyal, eager to please and highly responsive to her handler.
Betsy has undergone extensive health testing:
BVA/KC Hip Score: 7
• Right: 4
• Left: 3
• No osteoarthritis recorded
Elbows: 0:0
DNA tested CLEAR for:
• Dilute (D-locus, d1 variant)
• Centronuclear Myopathy (CNM)
• Macular Corneal Dystrophy (MCD)
• Progressive Retinal Atrophy (prcd-PRA)
• Skeletal Dysplasia 2 (SD2)
• Stargardt Disease (STGD)
💛 Dad – Monty
Monty is a handsome 3-year-old KC registered Golden Retriever from champion gundog lines.
He has a lovely temperament and the qualities associated with the Golden Retriever as a versatile gundog. He can also be arranged to be met by potential buyers alongside Betsy.
Monty’s DNA testing shows:
Ichthyosis (ICT-A) – Carrier
Progressive Retinal Atrophy (GR-PRA1) – Clear
Progressive Retinal Atrophy (GR-PRA2) – Clear
Importantly, Betsy is not a carrier for Ichthyosis, so this pairing cannot produce puppies affected by Ichthyosis.
🐶 The Puppies
The puppies are being raised as part of our family rather than away from normal household life.
They receive plenty of individual attention and are being introduced gradually to experiences designed to help develop confidence, resilience and good foundations for future training.
They are experiencing:
🐾 Individual handling
🧠 Confidence-building experiences
🔊 Household sounds
👃 Different smells
🐾 Different surfaces and textures
👧 Family life and children
✂ Gentle grooming and handling
🚗 Preparation for travelling
🐕 Age-appropriate socialisation
We are also keeping detailed records of each puppy’s weight, development and individual personality, allowing us to get to know them as individuals.
🏡 Working or Active Family Homes
These puppies are likely to suit owners who understand that a Labrador × Golden Retriever is an intelligent and active dog requiring training, exercise, interaction and companionship.
We would particularly welcome enquiries from people interested in:
• Gundog training
• Retrieving
• Shooting environments
• Working tests and similar activities
• Scent and retrieving activities
• Active outdoor lifestyles
• Structured dog sports and training
They can equally make excellent family companions for an active household that is committed to providing the training and engagement they need.
❤️ Finding the Right Home
We want to find the right home for each individual puppy rather than simply sell them on a first-come, first-served basis.
We will ask prospective owners about their experience with dogs, lifestyle, family, working arrangements and what they are looking for from their next dog.
A short questionnaire will be sent to potential owners so that we can get to know you and, where possible, match each puppy to the home that suits them best.
We are particularly interested in owners who understand that the work really begins when the puppy comes home and who are committed to continuing their training, socialisation and development.

🐶 Buyer’s Checklist for Gun Dogs
Whether you’re buying, selling, or studding a dog, it’s essential to take the right steps to protect yourself—and the animals involved.
- Always meet the dog in person at the breeder’s home or kennel—never agree to buy without seeing them first.
- Ask to see the puppies with their Dam (mother), and the Sire (father) if available.
-
Verify all paperwork:
- Kennel Club (KC) registration number
- Date of birth
- Health screening results
-
Prepare questions to ask the breeder. Some helpful ones include:
- Did you breed the dog(s) yourself?
- Can I see where they were bred and raised?
- How old is the Dam, and how many litters has she had?
- Was the birth natural or via C-section?
- Are there any known health issues?
- Can I see documentation for both Dam and Sire?
- Will the puppy be vaccinated and wormed before purchase?
- If something feels off, walk away. Don’t ignore red flags.
- Ask for advice from a trusted third party if you’re unsure.
- Take your time. This is a big decision—don’t rush it.
- Puppies should appear happy, healthy, clean, and curious.
- You should be allowed to see and handle all puppies in the litter, not just the one you're considering.
- Never buy a puppy younger than 8 weeks old.
- Avoid any puppies that show signs of illness—e.g. runny eyes, weakness, or diarrhoea.
- Is the whelping pen clean?
- Do the dogs have access to fresh water, clean food, and adequate space?
- The living conditions can say a lot about the breeder’s standards.
- Ensure you receive the KC registration form and all relevant documents at the time of payment.
- Write up a simple contract to protect both buyer and seller—especially important in case circumstances change.
- Never agree to buy a puppy in a car park or public place. Always go to the breeder's premises.
