Description

We’ve decided to part ways with our youngest golden girl Darcy, by no means an easy decision but she just needsmore time spent with her, and with our very young family she isn’t receiving that time like our fully trained Goldens.

Darcy is DNA clear for PRA1/2 and most importantly ICT, we think it’s so important for Goldens to be clear of ICT, something that 80% of Goldens carry.

Darcy has recently (last week) had her hip and elbow scores submitted to the BVA, which we are expecting to be back within the next couple of days and we are also expecting these to be quite low (obviously this will be reflected in the price once we have the exact score back). Darcy’s father is ‘Ace’ from Jalk Kennels who is 0/0 hips and elbows and mums also scores very low hips  2/2 and 0/0 elbows.

Darcy’s kennel name is Jalk Adventure of a lifetime.

Darcy is also due to complete a six week residency with a Gun Dog trainer starting on Monday 1st September; again this can be included in part of the sale ( price can reflect this) and we are more than happy to sell her as a trained & health tested golden.

At this moment in time, we are just trying to see what interest there maybe in Darcy and find her the best & most fitting home.

Please contact my husband Jim on 07368 895750 as we sometimes miss messages when busy with the children etc

Kindest Regards

Philippa & Jim

🐶 Buyer’s Checklist for Gun Dogs

Whether you’re buying, selling, or studding a dog, it’s essential to take the right steps to protect yourself—and the animals involved.

  • Always meet the dog in person at the breeder’s home or kennel—never agree to buy without seeing them first.
  • Ask to see the puppies with their Dam (mother), and the Sire (father) if available.
  • Verify all paperwork:
    • Kennel Club (KC) registration number
    • Date of birth
    • Health screening results
  • Prepare questions to ask the breeder. Some helpful ones include:
    • Did you breed the dog(s) yourself?
    • Can I see where they were bred and raised?
    • How old is the Dam, and how many litters has she had?
    • Was the birth natural or via C-section?
    • Are there any known health issues?
    • Can I see documentation for both Dam and Sire?
    • Will the puppy be vaccinated and wormed before purchase?

  • If something feels off, walk away. Don’t ignore red flags.
  • Ask for advice from a trusted third party if you’re unsure.
  • Take your time. This is a big decision—don’t rush it.

  • Puppies should appear happy, healthy, clean, and curious.
  • You should be allowed to see and handle all puppies in the litter, not just the one you're considering.
  • Never buy a puppy younger than 8 weeks old.
  • Avoid any puppies that show signs of illness—e.g. runny eyes, weakness, or diarrhoea.

  • Is the whelping pen clean?
  • Do the dogs have access to fresh water, clean food, and adequate space?
  • The living conditions can say a lot about the breeder’s standards.

  • Ensure you receive the KC registration form and all relevant documents at the time of payment.
  • Write up a simple contract to protect both buyer and seller—especially important in case circumstances change.
  • Never agree to buy a puppy in a car park or public place. Always go to the breeder's premises.
