Description

We are incredibly proud of this litter, born 7th August 2025. The puppies have been carefully raised in our busy family home, surrounded by children, dogs, and everyday life, which means they are confident, outgoing, and well socialised. They are handled daily, introduced to different sights and sounds, and given the very best start, setting them up perfectly for their future roles.

At present we have two boys available, both strong, healthy, and showing fantastic temperaments. They are bold and inquisitive, yet affectionate and people-focused, with the classic trainable nature you would expect from these bloodlines. With their breeding, they will excel in working homes or active family environments, combining ability, temperament, and style.

The dam, Huntonsdoch In For A Penny (“Bonny”), is a stylish, intelligent working bitch with a sweet nature, used regularly in the shooting field and equally happy as a family companion. She has an excellent temperament — biddable, kind, and hardworking. Bonny has a hip score of 5:4, elbow score of 0:0, unaffected eyes, and is DNA clear for CNM, EIC, HNPK, prcd-PRA, SD2.

The sire, FTCh Jarailstar Hogen of Stauntonvale (“Brae”), is one of the most accomplished Labradors in the country. He became a Field Trial Champion at just two years old, has qualified three times for the International Gundog League Championship (2023), and is a member of the England Gundog Team. In 2025, he won both the CLA Challenge Trophy for highest scoring retriever and the Wilson Challenge Trophy for highest scoring dog overall at the CLA Game Fair International Team Gundog Competition. Brae has a hip score of 4:2, elbows 0:0, unaffected eyes, and is fully DNA clear for CNM, EIC, HNPK, MCD, prcd-PRA, SD2, STGD.

Puppies leave with:

  • KC registration and 5-generation pedigree
  • Vet check, microchip, and first vaccination
  • Wormed and flea treated up to date
  • 5 weeks free KC insurance
  • Puppy pack and lifetime breeder support

🐶 Buyer’s Checklist for Gun Dogs

Whether you’re buying, selling, or studding a dog, it’s essential to take the right steps to protect yourself—and the animals involved.

  • Always meet the dog in person at the breeder’s home or kennel—never agree to buy without seeing them first.
  • Ask to see the puppies with their Dam (mother), and the Sire (father) if available.
  • Verify all paperwork:
    • Kennel Club (KC) registration number
    • Date of birth
    • Health screening results
  • Prepare questions to ask the breeder. Some helpful ones include:
    • Did you breed the dog(s) yourself?
    • Can I see where they were bred and raised?
    • How old is the Dam, and how many litters has she had?
    • Was the birth natural or via C-section?
    • Are there any known health issues?
    • Can I see documentation for both Dam and Sire?
    • Will the puppy be vaccinated and wormed before purchase?

  • If something feels off, walk away. Don’t ignore red flags.
  • Ask for advice from a trusted third party if you’re unsure.
  • Take your time. This is a big decision—don’t rush it.

  • Puppies should appear happy, healthy, clean, and curious.
  • You should be allowed to see and handle all puppies in the litter, not just the one you're considering.
  • Never buy a puppy younger than 8 weeks old.
  • Avoid any puppies that show signs of illness—e.g. runny eyes, weakness, or diarrhoea.

  • Is the whelping pen clean?
  • Do the dogs have access to fresh water, clean food, and adequate space?
  • The living conditions can say a lot about the breeder’s standards.

  • Ensure you receive the KC registration form and all relevant documents at the time of payment.
  • Write up a simple contract to protect both buyer and seller—especially important in case circumstances change.
  • Never agree to buy a puppy in a car park or public place. Always go to the breeder's premises.
