Description

We are delighted to announce the arrival of an all black litter on 31st October 2025.

Brookred Princess of Wales (aka Rye) X  Killyrudden Complice (aka Fig)

1 Boy & 4 Girls Available

Deposits are now being taken
Please contact us to express an interest.

Some puppies have already been reserved but we are still looking for forever, caring homes for the rest of the litter.

All prospective homes should have ample house space and a well fenced decent sized garden or outdoor area, priority will be given to active/working homes.

This mating has been selected for it’s estimated low risk breeding value for hip and elbow dysplasia

And it’s low in-breeding co-efficient of 4.7% (the breed average is 6.4%)

Dam: Rye is an athletic dog with an excellent natural agility, a fabulous temperament, very biddable with a super pedigree to match. She has a quiet calm nature and has matured into a lovely family dog who is well behaved around the home.
Her Sire 'Arcklebear Caribou' is described as being extremely loyal and biddable, he plays a huge part in his owners picking-up team.
In 2021 he qualified for the IGL Retriever Championships, running well and getting through to the third day, he went on to gain his FTCh status in 2022 on winning the Cornwall FTS one day Open Stake.
Rye's Dam 'Wickenstone Finest' was bred by ourselves and sired by 'Three Valleys Red Rum' who was a regular participant in Three Valleys commercial shoot picking up team.

Sire:  Fig is an agile and intelligent dog who can certainly work and cover ground effectively, many Working and Field Trial Champions can be found in his pedigree, he has proven to be very obedient and easily trainable, he has a fantastic temperament combined with a good hunting/work ethic, a calm and steady dog who enjoys to work, offspring from his previous litters are now successfully working on the hunting fields both here in the UK and abroad.

Fig also loves play time and a good fuss, he enjoys our company and is quiet and very well behaved around the home.

Puppies from this litter will be hereditarily clear from EIC, CNM, SD2, prcd-PRA and will not exhibit HNPK

KC Papers will be endorsed for breeding and export but endorsements may be lifted by negotiation

All puppies will be reared within our home, so will be accustomed to most household noises and activities, they will be KC Reg, Microchipped and treated from 2 weeks of age for internal and external parasites, all puppies will be vet checked before they leave us at 8 weeks of age, they will go to their new homes with our puppy starter pack (Supply of regular food, puppy pad, comfort blanket, toy, 5 generation pedigree, puppy information sheet and a few weeks free insurance to cover them in their new home)

Puppies will be available to view from 5 weeks of age by appointment only and they will be ready for their new forever homes from around the 29th December.

Please see our website www.wickenstonelabs.co.uk Labrador Page for more details and pictures.
All enquiries to ourselves.

🐶 Buyer’s Checklist for Gun Dogs

Whether you’re buying, selling, or studding a dog, it’s essential to take the right steps to protect yourself—and the animals involved.

  • Always meet the dog in person at the breeder’s home or kennel—never agree to buy without seeing them first.
  • Ask to see the puppies with their Dam (mother), and the Sire (father) if available.
  • Verify all paperwork:
    • Kennel Club (KC) registration number
    • Date of birth
    • Health screening results
  • Prepare questions to ask the breeder. Some helpful ones include:
    • Did you breed the dog(s) yourself?
    • Can I see where they were bred and raised?
    • How old is the Dam, and how many litters has she had?
    • Was the birth natural or via C-section?
    • Are there any known health issues?
    • Can I see documentation for both Dam and Sire?
    • Will the puppy be vaccinated and wormed before purchase?

  • If something feels off, walk away. Don’t ignore red flags.
  • Ask for advice from a trusted third party if you’re unsure.
  • Take your time. This is a big decision—don’t rush it.

  • Puppies should appear happy, healthy, clean, and curious.
  • You should be allowed to see and handle all puppies in the litter, not just the one you're considering.
  • Never buy a puppy younger than 8 weeks old.
  • Avoid any puppies that show signs of illness—e.g. runny eyes, weakness, or diarrhoea.

  • Is the whelping pen clean?
  • Do the dogs have access to fresh water, clean food, and adequate space?
  • The living conditions can say a lot about the breeder’s standards.

  • Ensure you receive the KC registration form and all relevant documents at the time of payment.
  • Write up a simple contract to protect both buyer and seller—especially important in case circumstances change.
  • Never agree to buy a puppy in a car park or public place. Always go to the breeder's premises.
