Two dog pups available from a much awaited Field Trial Champion to Field Trial Champion mating.

Mum, FTCH COPPERBIRCH Chanel of Tallamelie has been one of the most successful bitches on the UK field trial circuit over the last few years. She won out of Novice Field Trials quickly in 2021 age 2, before breaking into the open circuit in 2023. Significant Results;

-First Place Barton on Humber One day open Field Trial January 2023,

-Selection for England International Retriever Team April 2023

-1 st place Midland Counties 2 day open field trial, making her up to FTCH September 2023.

-Qualified for and achieved Diploma of Merit IGL Championships December 2023

-Selected for England International Retriever Team, competing at Skinners World Cup and The Game Fair 2024

-First Place at the prestigious Yorkshire Retriever Field Trial Society Two Day Open at Bolton Abbey August 2024

-Qualified for International Retriever Championships November 2024

-First Place Yellow Lab Club 2 day open Field Trial at Emblehope October 2025

- First Place Tyne Tees and Tweed two day open Field Trial November 2025

-Qualified for international retriever championships Nov 2025

FTCH COPPERBIRCH Chanel has shown drive and precision on dummies and game at the top of our sport. She is also a very experienced picking up dog, on the grouse moors of the Pennines and pheasant shoots in North Yorkshire. Most importantly she has grown up as the best friend to my youngest daughter.

Summer is clear of Stargardts, Pra, Eic, Sd2 and CNM.Elbows 00, Hips 5:7, clear eye cert March 2025

Dad, FTCH Eelburn Flavius of Ballygillen also shines with achievements at the very highest level. His most notable win was winning the Irish Retriever Championships in 2023. He has been a corner stone of the Irish International Retriever Team for the last four years, and qualified for the International gundog league and Irish Retriever championships every year since 2022. FTCH Eelburn Flavius is genetically clear of STGD, MCD, SD2, PRA, HPNK , EIC and CNM.0:0 elbows, 3:5, current clear eye cert.

This mating represents a combination between two of the best competition dogs in Europe and is a repeat mating of a litter last year which sadly only produced two dog pups. One of these dogs is showing great promise in the hands of a professional trainer and has returned health test results, 0:0 elbows, 2:2 hips. the other is a much loved family pet and is the black dog in the photo with Chanel. (To give an idea of the physical stamp that can be expected from the current litter). We also own a bitch, by FTCH Eelburn Flavius to Chanel’s mother. She has the perfect balance of drive one reliability, with excellent health tests, 0:0, 0:0. And it would appear that Flavius seems to be a hip improver on the COPPERBIRCH Rome / Chanel line.

🐶 Buyer’s Checklist for Gun Dogs

Whether you’re buying, selling, or studding a dog, it’s essential to take the right steps to protect yourself—and the animals involved.

  • Always meet the dog in person at the breeder’s home or kennel—never agree to buy without seeing them first.
  • Ask to see the puppies with their Dam (mother), and the Sire (father) if available.
  • Verify all paperwork:
    • Kennel Club (KC) registration number
    • Date of birth
    • Health screening results
  • Prepare questions to ask the breeder. Some helpful ones include:
    • Did you breed the dog(s) yourself?
    • Can I see where they were bred and raised?
    • How old is the Dam, and how many litters has she had?
    • Was the birth natural or via C-section?
    • Are there any known health issues?
    • Can I see documentation for both Dam and Sire?
    • Will the puppy be vaccinated and wormed before purchase?

  • If something feels off, walk away. Don’t ignore red flags.
  • Ask for advice from a trusted third party if you’re unsure.
  • Take your time. This is a big decision—don’t rush it.

  • Puppies should appear happy, healthy, clean, and curious.
  • You should be allowed to see and handle all puppies in the litter, not just the one you're considering.
  • Never buy a puppy younger than 8 weeks old.
  • Avoid any puppies that show signs of illness—e.g. runny eyes, weakness, or diarrhoea.

  • Is the whelping pen clean?
  • Do the dogs have access to fresh water, clean food, and adequate space?
  • The living conditions can say a lot about the breeder’s standards.

  • Ensure you receive the KC registration form and all relevant documents at the time of payment.
  • Write up a simple contract to protect both buyer and seller—especially important in case circumstances change.
  • Never agree to buy a puppy in a car park or public place. Always go to the breeder's premises.
