Description

I have seven available well‑bred Labrador pups (from a litter of 9) available from a carefully planned mating intended to produce calm, biddable, easy‑to‑train dogs with the classic old‑fashioned Labrador build. The available pups are three yellow/fox red boys, one fox red girl, one black girl and two black boys.

I own the dam, Rhubarb (Bryntail Sierra), and she is adored in my house by all who visit. She comes from champion trial lines and has worked in the beating line, picking up, and on the peg. Despite her ability and drive in the field, she is, at heart, a lap dog — calm, affectionate and incredibly people‑focused. Rhubarb has also modelled and even appeared in The Crown on Netflix, thanks to her steady temperament and striking look. She is fully health tested with excellent results and is a reliable, kind‑natured bitch who passes on her steadiness and trainability to her pups.

The sire, Globetrotter Lab’s Valley at Brigburn (Del), is a half show, half working Labrador who brings exceptional versatility and temperament. He is a UK stud book number holder with a CC and Best of Breed, a Reserve CC, and a class win at Crufts 2020. He also holds a Show Working Gundog Certificate, demonstrating genuine working ability alongside his show success. Del is fully health tested with excellent results and is known for his sweet, uncomplicated nature. His offspring are already proving themselves in both working and assistance roles, including Medical Detection Dogs and Dogs for Good.

This is a repeat mating because I was so impressed with the pups produced last year. Together, this pairing has produced pups with substance, steadiness and the traditional old‑style Labrador look, combined with natural game‑finding ability and a genuinely biddable, easy‑to‑train nature. They are exceptionally well suited to both working and non‑working homes. Raised in my home with thoughtful early socialisation and exposure to everyday life, they are confident, affectionate youngsters who will thrive in active homes, gundog roles, or as steady, loyal companions.

🐶 Buyer’s Checklist for Gun Dogs

Whether you’re buying, selling, or studding a dog, it’s essential to take the right steps to protect yourself—and the animals involved.

  • Always meet the dog in person at the breeder’s home or kennel—never agree to buy without seeing them first.
  • Ask to see the puppies with their Dam (mother), and the Sire (father) if available.
  • Verify all paperwork:
    • Kennel Club (KC) registration number
    • Date of birth
    • Health screening results
  • Prepare questions to ask the breeder. Some helpful ones include:
    • Did you breed the dog(s) yourself?
    • Can I see where they were bred and raised?
    • How old is the Dam, and how many litters has she had?
    • Was the birth natural or via C-section?
    • Are there any known health issues?
    • Can I see documentation for both Dam and Sire?
    • Will the puppy be vaccinated and wormed before purchase?

  • If something feels off, walk away. Don’t ignore red flags.
  • Ask for advice from a trusted third party if you’re unsure.
  • Take your time. This is a big decision—don’t rush it.

  • Puppies should appear happy, healthy, clean, and curious.
  • You should be allowed to see and handle all puppies in the litter, not just the one you're considering.
  • Never buy a puppy younger than 8 weeks old.
  • Avoid any puppies that show signs of illness—e.g. runny eyes, weakness, or diarrhoea.

  • Is the whelping pen clean?
  • Do the dogs have access to fresh water, clean food, and adequate space?
  • The living conditions can say a lot about the breeder’s standards.

  • Ensure you receive the KC registration form and all relevant documents at the time of payment.
  • Write up a simple contract to protect both buyer and seller—especially important in case circumstances change.
  • Never agree to buy a puppy in a car park or public place. Always go to the breeder's premises.
