Temperament
Barley is a honest, loyal dog who always tries to please. He excels in marking along with natural straight-lining ability. He is a true gentleman, like his father, with an extremely biddable attitude who learns all commands swiftly. Whilst a very consistent and reliable trialling dog, he is also a family dog brought up around young children as well as being a valuable member our picking up team.

Trialling & Tests
At 18months old Barley won his second working test, an open cold game test, he then went on the gain a 2nd in his second field trial at just 19months old in October 2021. In September 2022, Barley has gone on to win, for a consecutive year, the URC Lincs KC Open Cold Game Test. Following this, Barley WON the Midland Counties Labrador Retriever Club Novice Trial in November 2022. He is proving both consistent and driven in the field. Since then Barley has gained a COM in a 2-day Open Field Trial in 2023 and a 4th in an All-Aged Field Trial in November 2024. He has been in two trials in 2025, a 2 day Open and an All-Aged stake, in which he made it the last retrieve in both trials, but unfortunately were unlucky (with one trial ending a no result with 0 dogs competing the trial). Sinead is hopeful to continue trialling during 2025 should time permit with having a young family.
