He has fantastic EBV's (estimated breeding values)- this is in photos. With progeny constantly scoring below average too.

Tweed is a strong built, muscular labrador with a lovely broad head. Last weighed at 32.5kg. He’s a very deep fox red colour, photos don’t do him justice.

He’s got a fantastic temperament, very kind/soft natured. He’s been a pleasure to work with/train.
Always wanting to please.

He’s a hard hunting dog, with a fast, pacy hunting style. But is yet very responsive and easy to handle if needed to be. A very valuable member within my picking up team; out between 4-6 days a week. Completing over 100 shoot days.

He’s very steady to falling game, gun shot and has always been a natural carrier wether that’s with dummy work, or finding & retrieving game, he’s hard facing in cover and also a fantastic/strong water retriever.

Well bred with a fantastic working background, with many FTCH’s and FTW’s. We also own his dam and other family members.

Not only used to produce good working offspring, but also used to produced fantastic all round companion/pets.
He’s a well proven stud.

Full documentation will be given of health testing. Along with a photo of him to show any new potential owners of pups, and also his pedigree & receipt.
Stud fee to be paid on first tie, with a repeat mating offered 24/48 hours apart.

If for any reason there are no pups produced, a FREE repeat mating will be offered which includes 2 covers again.

Very experienced in assisting matings and happy to advise where possible.
Any questions feel free to get intouch. Phone call/message preferred as I don’t always check emails daily.

🐶 Buyer’s Checklist for Gun Dogs

Whether you’re buying, selling, or studding a dog, it’s essential to take the right steps to protect yourself—and the animals involved.

  • Always meet the dog in person at the breeder’s home or kennel—never agree to buy without seeing them first.
  • Ask to see the puppies with their Dam (mother), and the Sire (father) if available.
  • Verify all paperwork:
    • Kennel Club (KC) registration number
    • Date of birth
    • Health screening results
  • Prepare questions to ask the breeder. Some helpful ones include:
    • Did you breed the dog(s) yourself?
    • Can I see where they were bred and raised?
    • How old is the Dam, and how many litters has she had?
    • Was the birth natural or via C-section?
    • Are there any known health issues?
    • Can I see documentation for both Dam and Sire?
    • Will the puppy be vaccinated and wormed before purchase?
  • If something feels off, walk away. Don’t ignore red flags.
  • Ask for advice from a trusted third party if you’re unsure.
  • Take your time. This is a big decision—don’t rush it.
  • Puppies should appear happy, healthy, clean, and curious.
  • You should be allowed to see and handle all puppies in the litter, not just the one you're considering.
  • Never buy a puppy younger than 8 weeks old.
  • Avoid any puppies that show signs of illness—e.g. runny eyes, weakness, or diarrhoea.
  • Is the whelping pen clean?
  • Do the dogs have access to fresh water, clean food, and adequate space?
  • The living conditions can say a lot about the breeder’s standards.
  • Ensure you receive the KC registration form and all relevant documents at the time of payment.
  • Write up a simple contract to protect both buyer and seller—especially important in case circumstances change.
  • Never agree to buy a puppy in a car park or public place. Always go to the breeder's premises.

🧠 Final Thought

Buying a gun dog is your responsibility. Do your homework on both the breed and the breeder. Make sure your decision is informed, confident, and in the best interest of the dog.
