- Supported natural matings

- Solid very dark silky red coat with no white speckles or markings

 - Homebred & not related to our other stud, Ted (also advertised on this site)

 - Adorable nature, Easily trainable

DNA testing fully clear: - Centronuclear myopathy (CNM) - Degenerative Myelopathy (DM) - Exercise-Induced Collapse (EIC) - Hereditary nasal parakeratosis (HNPK) - Progressive Retinal Atrophy (prcd-PRA) - Skeletal Dysplasia 2 (SD2) - Stargardt disease 1 (STGD) - Macular corneal dystrophy (MCD) 😊 Being clear in the above tests means that pups sired by Sam cannot be affected by horrendous hereditary diseases.

Appearance - Sam is a truly stunning working type Lab; with a large broad head, muscular physique and ample bone structure. In our opinion, we feel he’s one of the best looking around, he always gets complimented on his appearance. Weighing in at a nice healthy solid weight of around 35kg - 36kg pure muscle! His coat is silky, smooth & shiny, solid dark red with no speckles or white markings.

Nature/temperament - Homebred Sam has a caring yet confident temperament, we have been with him through his full life journey! He’s not a bad bone in his body, aims to please, loving people as much as he loves life! True to the Labrador breed and very similar to our other stud, Ted. Taking new experiences and scenarios in his stride he's a true pleasure to call ours. Living in our home environment he is very much part of the family.
On the field, he has plenty of drive and he is honestly a joy to own.
In his stud role, he’s been getting the job done naturally (with smaller bitches too) quickly - he doesn’t mess around!

Progesterone testing - We request that bitches visiting Sam are progesterone tested to check if they have ovulated and assess where they are within their cycle period. The quick and easy test makes the mating more comfortable and you have peace of mind that the timing is right. Further advice can be provided, please just ask if unsure ☺️

Paperwork - a copy of Sam’s pedigree and a stud contract will be provided.

Based near Easingwold, York.

Stud fee - £400 payable on our premises at the first visit regardless if you choose 1 or 2 visits.

Thank you ☺️

🐶 Buyer’s Checklist for Gun Dogs

Whether you’re buying, selling, or studding a dog, it’s essential to take the right steps to protect yourself—and the animals involved.

  • Always meet the dog in person at the breeder’s home or kennel—never agree to buy without seeing them first.
  • Ask to see the puppies with their Dam (mother), and the Sire (father) if available.
  • Verify all paperwork:
    • Kennel Club (KC) registration number
    • Date of birth
    • Health screening results
  • Prepare questions to ask the breeder. Some helpful ones include:
    • Did you breed the dog(s) yourself?
    • Can I see where they were bred and raised?
    • How old is the Dam, and how many litters has she had?
    • Was the birth natural or via C-section?
    • Are there any known health issues?
    • Can I see documentation for both Dam and Sire?
    • Will the puppy be vaccinated and wormed before purchase?

  • If something feels off, walk away. Don’t ignore red flags.
  • Ask for advice from a trusted third party if you’re unsure.
  • Take your time. This is a big decision—don’t rush it.

  • Puppies should appear happy, healthy, clean, and curious.
  • You should be allowed to see and handle all puppies in the litter, not just the one you're considering.
  • Never buy a puppy younger than 8 weeks old.
  • Avoid any puppies that show signs of illness—e.g. runny eyes, weakness, or diarrhoea.

  • Is the whelping pen clean?
  • Do the dogs have access to fresh water, clean food, and adequate space?
  • The living conditions can say a lot about the breeder’s standards.

  • Ensure you receive the KC registration form and all relevant documents at the time of payment.
  • Write up a simple contract to protect both buyer and seller—especially important in case circumstances change.
  • Never agree to buy a puppy in a car park or public place. Always go to the breeder's premises.
