Description

Available for stud to fully health tested bitches is my KC registered and  health tested yellow lab. He is a large, solid and very powerful dog currently weighing 35.5kg. An extremely striking dog, with great looks, features and an even better temperament. He is not an aggressive dog, he has a wonderful friendly nature and leaves a great impression on all who meet him. He is very relaxed around the house and is able to switch off quickly when not working or training.

He is a working dog and last season was his first one with me wildfowling, he had over 60 trips to the foreshore picking duck and geese in mud and large strong tides and did a brilliant job. He has fantastic drive and loves being out working and training, on land and in water.

He is not currently proven, the current price reflects this.

KC Name: Bobernwood Swayfield Pilot at Osthrupe

DOB; 23/10/2023

SD2 - carrier

STGD- clear

Pilot was originally hereditary clear for SD2 which shows why it’s important to get dogs properly tested. The bitch must be clear of SD2 for a mating to happen. The stud fee is to be paid on the first tie, with a repeat mating offered 24/48 hours apart. If the mating is unsuccessful, a free repeat mating will be offered which includes 2 covers again on her next season. I am based in West Oxon. I have decided to use him as a stud so I can have a pup from him in a few years.

Any questions, please feel free to contact me. I can send his 5 generation pedigree if needed.

🐶 Buyer’s Checklist for Gun Dogs

Whether you’re buying, selling, or studding a dog, it’s essential to take the right steps to protect yourself—and the animals involved.

  • Always meet the dog in person at the breeder’s home or kennel—never agree to buy without seeing them first.
  • Ask to see the puppies with their Dam (mother), and the Sire (father) if available.
  • Verify all paperwork:
    • Kennel Club (KC) registration number
    • Date of birth
    • Health screening results
  • Prepare questions to ask the breeder. Some helpful ones include:
    • Did you breed the dog(s) yourself?
    • Can I see where they were bred and raised?
    • How old is the Dam, and how many litters has she had?
    • Was the birth natural or via C-section?
    • Are there any known health issues?
    • Can I see documentation for both Dam and Sire?
    • Will the puppy be vaccinated and wormed before purchase?

  • If something feels off, walk away. Don’t ignore red flags.
  • Ask for advice from a trusted third party if you’re unsure.
  • Take your time. This is a big decision—don’t rush it.

  • Puppies should appear happy, healthy, clean, and curious.
  • You should be allowed to see and handle all puppies in the litter, not just the one you're considering.
  • Never buy a puppy younger than 8 weeks old.
  • Avoid any puppies that show signs of illness—e.g. runny eyes, weakness, or diarrhoea.

  • Is the whelping pen clean?
  • Do the dogs have access to fresh water, clean food, and adequate space?
  • The living conditions can say a lot about the breeder’s standards.

  • Ensure you receive the KC registration form and all relevant documents at the time of payment.
  • Write up a simple contract to protect both buyer and seller—especially important in case circumstances change.
  • Never agree to buy a puppy in a car park or public place. Always go to the breeder's premises.
