Stunning 12 month - bitch - huge potential - DNA Clear

County / Town: Montgomeryshire

Description

Black lab bitch, 12 months old, bred and raised ourselves. Sire Lynesykes Snipe at FosterWold Gundogs. DNA clear, 0/0 hips and elbows.

Dam our own Tarranddu Miss Meg, DNA clear, 4/5 hips, 0/0 elbows.

Both are working dogs on large estate shoot's.

This girl is a very biddable dog with a lot of drive and plenty of motivation to retrieve too, she’s been left to develop slowly, learning life skills and key environmental development.

Broad chest and lovely shape on her, nice square head, photos don’t do her justice.

Shes a blank canvas ready for someone to mould her into the fantastic dog she has huge potential to be.

She has been out on the shoot on a handful of drives, she’s fine with shot and retrieves birds respectfully.

She travels well and has been brought up in the kennel and also crated in the house.

She has brilliant recall and walks nicely on the lead, she will sit but that’s all she’s done, so please don’t call asking about what formal training she’s done as she’s not done any yet - directionals, stop whistle etc. She’s very trainable so it wouldn’t take long.

She is fully vaccinated.

Would suit an active or working home. 5* home is important for this girl.

No trials or partial payments as we’ve been messed about before, we just want a home that can give her the attention she deserves and let her reach her potential, she’s a very special girl.

🐶 Buyer’s Checklist for Gun Dogs

Whether you’re buying, selling, or studding a dog, it’s essential to take the right steps to protect yourself—and the animals involved.

  • Always meet the dog in person at the breeder’s home or kennel—never agree to buy without seeing them first.
  • Ask to see the puppies with their Dam (mother), and the Sire (father) if available.
  • Verify all paperwork:
    • Kennel Club (KC) registration number
    • Date of birth
    • Health screening results
  • Prepare questions to ask the breeder. Some helpful ones include:
    • Did you breed the dog(s) yourself?
    • Can I see where they were bred and raised?
    • How old is the Dam, and how many litters has she had?
    • Was the birth natural or via C-section?
    • Are there any known health issues?
    • Can I see documentation for both Dam and Sire?
    • Will the puppy be vaccinated and wormed before purchase?
  • If something feels off, walk away. Don’t ignore red flags.
  • Ask for advice from a trusted third party if you’re unsure.
  • Take your time. This is a big decision—don’t rush it.
  • Puppies should appear happy, healthy, clean, and curious.
  • You should be allowed to see and handle all puppies in the litter, not just the one you're considering.
  • Never buy a puppy younger than 8 weeks old.
  • Avoid any puppies that show signs of illness—e.g. runny eyes, weakness, or diarrhoea.
  • Is the whelping pen clean?
  • Do the dogs have access to fresh water, clean food, and adequate space?
  • The living conditions can say a lot about the breeder’s standards.
  • Ensure you receive the KC registration form and all relevant documents at the time of payment.
  • Write up a simple contract to protect both buyer and seller—especially important in case circumstances change.
  • Never agree to buy a puppy in a car park or public place. Always go to the breeder's premises.

🧠 Final Thought

Buying a gun dog is your responsibility. Do your homework on both the breed and the breeder. Make sure your decision is informed, confident, and in the best interest of the dog.
