Description

After a very difficult decision I have decided to part with this wonderful girl Wanda.
Bred by myself, I have both parents and had generations on both sides before her.
She comes from a fantastic line of hard working, loyal and eager to please dogs that all have an off switch.
Wanda is 11 months old and has spent a few days with my picking up team this season getting a taste for what it’s all about. She travels well in a vehicle, sits steady at the back of a gun line and walks to heel lovely off lead.

She recalls wonderfully to whistle (211.5) and own whistle/ name.
She retrieves beautifully and has a fantastic nose already. Watching her work on some close blind retrieves has been a pleasure. She is still growing in confidence and doesn’t like to stray too far away. She has spent time with both male and female dogs. She is currently kennelled and is quiet in the kennels.

I am taking a step back from doing as much ‘commercial’ picking up so Wanda was an easy pick to part with as I know she will make someone a truly fantastic pet. She is fairly green so someone can mould her to how they want. She has grown up around two young children and is familiar with sheep/ horses.

She has always been a lady owned dog so I think this is something I would ideally like however i believe she would work very well for a kind gentleman also. She is a sensitive creature who only wants to please.

She is KC registered and has her microchip and had first injections as a puppy.
She will be ready for her new home from 1st February 2026

Negatives about Wanda-
We live very rurally so I have never lead trained Wanda. She has had one on her a few times during a busy drive but otherwise has never walked on one.
Other than that. Nothing I can even think of.

This will be an emotional sale and please understand this is not because Wanda is at fault. I am simply try to make my life a little easier and more manageable with two young children and a growing business. I am trying to do right by Wanda.

🐶 Buyer’s Checklist for Gun Dogs

Whether you’re buying, selling, or studding a dog, it’s essential to take the right steps to protect yourself—and the animals involved.

  • Always meet the dog in person at the breeder’s home or kennel—never agree to buy without seeing them first.
  • Ask to see the puppies with their Dam (mother), and the Sire (father) if available.
  • Verify all paperwork:
    • Kennel Club (KC) registration number
    • Date of birth
    • Health screening results
  • Prepare questions to ask the breeder. Some helpful ones include:
    • Did you breed the dog(s) yourself?
    • Can I see where they were bred and raised?
    • How old is the Dam, and how many litters has she had?
    • Was the birth natural or via C-section?
    • Are there any known health issues?
    • Can I see documentation for both Dam and Sire?
    • Will the puppy be vaccinated and wormed before purchase?

  • If something feels off, walk away. Don’t ignore red flags.
  • Ask for advice from a trusted third party if you’re unsure.
  • Take your time. This is a big decision—don’t rush it.

  • Puppies should appear happy, healthy, clean, and curious.
  • You should be allowed to see and handle all puppies in the litter, not just the one you're considering.
  • Never buy a puppy younger than 8 weeks old.
  • Avoid any puppies that show signs of illness—e.g. runny eyes, weakness, or diarrhoea.

  • Is the whelping pen clean?
  • Do the dogs have access to fresh water, clean food, and adequate space?
  • The living conditions can say a lot about the breeder’s standards.

  • Ensure you receive the KC registration form and all relevant documents at the time of payment.
  • Write up a simple contract to protect both buyer and seller—especially important in case circumstances change.
  • Never agree to buy a puppy in a car park or public place. Always go to the breeder's premises.
