Labrador Bitch – Leacaz Lines – Genuine Home Sought

Quality Labrador bitch from proven Leacaz lines, offered for sale to a knowledgeable and sympathetic working or active home.

She has lovely manners, walks well to heel both on and off lead, and sits steady on the peg and on drives. She is a good game finder, confidently retrieving both dead and wounded game, and is particularly capable on runners.

Currently picking up on a large commercial shoot within a small, quiet team, where she is progressing steadily. Her retrieve is honest and improving all the time — she brings birds back consistently but can take a few seconds to deliver fully to hand. This has already improved significantly (from around 30 seconds initially to approximately 10 seconds now) as her confidence has grown through regular picking up, and will continue to improve with time and patient handling.

She is a softer type and does not suit a large or highly pressured team of dogs. She is happiest working quietly, either alone or in a small team (she is settled in my team of four and unbothered by other picking-up dogs). She is an honest bitch who genuinely wants to please.

She will benefit from time over the summer to consolidate her confidence and retrieve, and this has been reflected sensibly in her price. With the right handler, she will make a very enjoyable and reliable picking-up or peg dog next season, she’s sat on peg and has no issues.

She would also make a great family pet to an active home.

She’s good with kids, cats and other dogs.

  • Health tested – clear
  • Quiet and clean in the kennel or happy living in the house
  • Travels perfectly and quietly in the truck

A straightforward, kind Labrador who needs the right home to bring out the best in her. Serious enquiries from experienced working or active homes only.

Not picking up next season hence sale

🐶 Buyer’s Checklist for Gun Dogs

Whether you’re buying, selling, or studding a dog, it’s essential to take the right steps to protect yourself—and the animals involved.

  • Always meet the dog in person at the breeder’s home or kennel—never agree to buy without seeing them first.
  • Ask to see the puppies with their Dam (mother), and the Sire (father) if available.
  • Verify all paperwork:
    • Kennel Club (KC) registration number
    • Date of birth
    • Health screening results
  • Prepare questions to ask the breeder. Some helpful ones include:
    • Did you breed the dog(s) yourself?
    • Can I see where they were bred and raised?
    • How old is the Dam, and how many litters has she had?
    • Was the birth natural or via C-section?
    • Are there any known health issues?
    • Can I see documentation for both Dam and Sire?
    • Will the puppy be vaccinated and wormed before purchase?

  • If something feels off, walk away. Don’t ignore red flags.
  • Ask for advice from a trusted third party if you’re unsure.
  • Take your time. This is a big decision—don’t rush it.

  • Puppies should appear happy, healthy, clean, and curious.
  • You should be allowed to see and handle all puppies in the litter, not just the one you're considering.
  • Never buy a puppy younger than 8 weeks old.
  • Avoid any puppies that show signs of illness—e.g. runny eyes, weakness, or diarrhoea.

  • Is the whelping pen clean?
  • Do the dogs have access to fresh water, clean food, and adequate space?
  • The living conditions can say a lot about the breeder’s standards.

  • Ensure you receive the KC registration form and all relevant documents at the time of payment.
  • Write up a simple contract to protect both buyer and seller—especially important in case circumstances change.
  • Never agree to buy a puppy in a car park or public place. Always go to the breeder's premises.
