Description
GOOSE (BOLEBROKEOLD KENSINGTON) | 4-YEAR-OLD WORKING LABRADOR DOG
Sire: International FTCH Kensteen Rocket (Belgium)
This is an incredibly sad sale, but one I feel I have to make for his own benefit.
Goose is a strikingly handsome, strong and confident Labrador dog who turned 4 in September.
I've invested a huge amount of time, effort and dedication into Goose's training since he was a puppy. However, over the past 18–24 months, I've been growing two businesses whilst also raising three young children. Unfortunately, my business and family commitments simply don't allow me to dedicate the time this special dog deserves to reach his full potential.
Goose is not a house dog, lap dog or your typical family pet. He's a powerful, driven working Labrador with a huge amount of enthusiasm, ability and a fantastic attitude towards his work. When he's doing what he loves, he will give you absolutely everything and more.
He currently lives in a converted garage/dog room alongside my other dog and isn't accustomed to living inside a family home, either in terms of routine or behaviour.
As you can see from the photos, he's an exceptionally good-looking dog who regularly catches people's attention and receives compliments wherever we go.
Pedigree & Health
Goose is sired by International FTCH Kensteen Rocket from Belgium and comes from excellent working lines.
For complete transparency, Goose has never had his hips or elbows scored or undergone formal health testing.
When I purchased him, I was completely new to the gundog world and unfamiliar with these processes (still am).
Working Test Achievements
2nd place in Puppy
4th place in NDNH
I don't believe Goose will make a field trial dog at this stage, although with the right time and training, I certainly think he could still have a good go at Working Tests.
Where I genuinely believe Goose will thrive is as a picking-up dog or peg dog.
He's already completed several days picking up over the past two shooting seasons and will happily retrieve birds all day long. He absolutely loves his work and has the drive, stamina and enthusiasm to keep going.
That said, his training and handling will need tidying up. With my commitments over the past couple of years, I haven't been able to maintain the level of consistency that a dog like Goose needs.
I know exactly the type of owner and trainer Goose needs to thrive. Someone experienced with strong, driven working Labradors who understands the importance of structure, consistency, firm but fair handling and regular work.
He is not a dog for someone looking for an easy-going companion or their first gundog. He needs someone who can channel his enthusiasm and ability in the right direction, and who genuinely enjoys putting the time into their dogs.
In the right hands, I believe Goose could become a fantastic and very rewarding working companion.
Price & Finding the Right Home
The asking price reflects the considerable time and training invested in Goose, his pedigree, proven working experience and the potential he still has to offer. I originally paid £2,500 as a puppy.
I'm not looking to give him away, nor am I looking for a quick sale. I know what Goose is capable of and what he could become with the right person.
Above everything else, finding the right home is my absolute priority. I will be selective about where he goes, and I would ideally like to keep in touch with his new owner to follow his progress.
This is a genuinely heartbreaking decision and one I've been putting off for weeks. I've put so much into this dog over the years, and it's incredibly difficult to accept that I can no longer give him the time and attention he deserves.
However, I would much rather see Goose out working regularly, doing what he was bred to do and reaching his potential than allow his ability to go to waste.
Serious enquiries from experienced working homes only, please.

🐶 Buyer’s Checklist for Gun Dogs
Whether you’re buying, selling, or studding a dog, it’s essential to take the right steps to protect yourself—and the animals involved.
- Always meet the dog in person at the breeder’s home or kennel—never agree to buy without seeing them first.
- Ask to see the puppies with their Dam (mother), and the Sire (father) if available.
-
Verify all paperwork:
- Kennel Club (KC) registration number
- Date of birth
- Health screening results
-
Prepare questions to ask the breeder. Some helpful ones include:
- Did you breed the dog(s) yourself?
- Can I see where they were bred and raised?
- How old is the Dam, and how many litters has she had?
- Was the birth natural or via C-section?
- Are there any known health issues?
- Can I see documentation for both Dam and Sire?
- Will the puppy be vaccinated and wormed before purchase?
- If something feels off, walk away. Don’t ignore red flags.
- Ask for advice from a trusted third party if you’re unsure.
- Take your time. This is a big decision—don’t rush it.
- Puppies should appear happy, healthy, clean, and curious.
- You should be allowed to see and handle all puppies in the litter, not just the one you're considering.
- Never buy a puppy younger than 8 weeks old.
- Avoid any puppies that show signs of illness—e.g. runny eyes, weakness, or diarrhoea.
- Is the whelping pen clean?
- Do the dogs have access to fresh water, clean food, and adequate space?
- The living conditions can say a lot about the breeder’s standards.
- Ensure you receive the KC registration form and all relevant documents at the time of payment.
- Write up a simple contract to protect both buyer and seller—especially important in case circumstances change.
- Never agree to buy a puppy in a car park or public place. Always go to the breeder's premises.
