Ffynonlas Titch of Valeshot (Tom) is Kennel Club registered and he has a superb working pedigree with twenty two Field Trial Champions in his four generation pedigree.

 

Tom is a proven stud dog and he is gentle which is especially important with maiden bitches.

 

Tom's semen was analysed for quality and mobility with excellent results by K9 Fertility Southampton Clinic on 25 February 2024.

 

Tom has been tested “Clear” for 271 canine inherited genetic diseases by Wisdom Panel which is a Kennel Club approved DNA testing laboratory. Tom has also been separately tested “Clear” for Adult Onset Neuropathy (AON). The most relevant test results for Cocker Spaniels are listed above.

 

Puppies sired by Tom will never be clinically affected by any of the inherited genetic diseases he has been tested “Clear” for.

 

Tom is a small, compact, sturdy and stylish dog weighing 11.5kgs.

 

Tom has a very sweet biddable temperament. He is fast with a natural hunting pattern and he is fearless in cover. He is soft mouthed and a keen retriever from both land and water.

 

Tom beats regularly throughout the shooting season on two commercial shoots in Dorset.

 

Tom has good eye colour and correct conformation. He has a full dentition and a correct scissor bite. He is annually vaccinated and routinely wormed, flea and tick treated.

 

Tom lives in our farmhouse on our large working farm and he is an extremely loving part of our large human and doggy family.

 

We are experienced breeders and we are delighted to advise on all aspects of breeding.

 

Tom's stud fee is for two matings forty eight hours apart. We offer two free repeat matings on the bitch's next season if no live puppies are born. We are happy to accommodate matings at short notice if necessary.

🐶 Buyer’s Checklist for Gun Dogs

Whether you’re buying, selling, or studding a dog, it’s essential to take the right steps to protect yourself—and the animals involved.

  • Always meet the dog in person at the breeder’s home or kennel—never agree to buy without seeing them first.
  • Ask to see the puppies with their Dam (mother), and the Sire (father) if available.
  • Verify all paperwork:
    • Kennel Club (KC) registration number
    • Date of birth
    • Health screening results
  • Prepare questions to ask the breeder. Some helpful ones include:
    • Did you breed the dog(s) yourself?
    • Can I see where they were bred and raised?
    • How old is the Dam, and how many litters has she had?
    • Was the birth natural or via C-section?
    • Are there any known health issues?
    • Can I see documentation for both Dam and Sire?
    • Will the puppy be vaccinated and wormed before purchase?

  • If something feels off, walk away. Don’t ignore red flags.
  • Ask for advice from a trusted third party if you’re unsure.
  • Take your time. This is a big decision—don’t rush it.

  • Puppies should appear happy, healthy, clean, and curious.
  • You should be allowed to see and handle all puppies in the litter, not just the one you're considering.
  • Never buy a puppy younger than 8 weeks old.
  • Avoid any puppies that show signs of illness—e.g. runny eyes, weakness, or diarrhoea.

  • Is the whelping pen clean?
  • Do the dogs have access to fresh water, clean food, and adequate space?
  • The living conditions can say a lot about the breeder’s standards.

  • Ensure you receive the KC registration form and all relevant documents at the time of payment.
  • Write up a simple contract to protect both buyer and seller—especially important in case circumstances change.
  • Never agree to buy a puppy in a car park or public place. Always go to the breeder's premises.
