Description

15-month-old male Sprocker Spaniel – active/working home sought

Angus is a handsome, intelligent and very energetic young Sprocker looking for an experienced, active home where he can fulfil his potential. Mother is sprocker and father was cocker. We have the original breeders details and stud pedigree. Microchipped.

He is a confident, enthusiastic dog who absolutely loves being out and working. He has excellent recall, is very responsive when engaged and has a huge amount of energy and drive. He is extremely sociable with other dogs and loves people.

Angus has not been formally trained as a working gundog, so he would be a project for somebody who enjoys training and bringing on a young dog. We feel he would particularly suit someone with previous spaniel/gundog experience who can give him the structure, stimulation and exercise he thrives on.

He is vaccinated, entire and in good health.

He currently lives as a family pet but, due to a significant change in our family circumstances, and prolonged hospital stays we can no longer give a young, high-energy spaniel the time and consistency he deserves.

He has good recall but still needs work on his lead walking and general steadiness. He can steal items in the home but returns them when asked.

He is excellent with other dogs and could potentially live alongside another suitable dog. No cats and we would prefer an adult home or one without young children as he's a busy boy.

We are looking for a knowledgeable home rather than simply the quickest home. A working, gundog, country or very active home where Angus has a job to do would be ideal.

Happy to answer any questions and provide further photographs/videos. Prospective homes are very welcome to meet Angus and spend some time with him before making any decisions.

Based near Guildford, Surrey.

🐶 Buyer’s Checklist for Gun Dogs

Whether you’re buying, selling, or studding a dog, it’s essential to take the right steps to protect yourself—and the animals involved.

  • Always meet the dog in person at the breeder’s home or kennel—never agree to buy without seeing them first.
  • Ask to see the puppies with their Dam (mother), and the Sire (father) if available.
  • Verify all paperwork:
    • Kennel Club (KC) registration number
    • Date of birth
    • Health screening results
  • Prepare questions to ask the breeder. Some helpful ones include:
    • Did you breed the dog(s) yourself?
    • Can I see where they were bred and raised?
    • How old is the Dam, and how many litters has she had?
    • Was the birth natural or via C-section?
    • Are there any known health issues?
    • Can I see documentation for both Dam and Sire?
    • Will the puppy be vaccinated and wormed before purchase?

  • If something feels off, walk away. Don’t ignore red flags.
  • Ask for advice from a trusted third party if you’re unsure.
  • Take your time. This is a big decision—don’t rush it.

  • Puppies should appear happy, healthy, clean, and curious.
  • You should be allowed to see and handle all puppies in the litter, not just the one you're considering.
  • Never buy a puppy younger than 8 weeks old.
  • Avoid any puppies that show signs of illness—e.g. runny eyes, weakness, or diarrhoea.

  • Is the whelping pen clean?
  • Do the dogs have access to fresh water, clean food, and adequate space?
  • The living conditions can say a lot about the breeder’s standards.

  • Ensure you receive the KC registration form and all relevant documents at the time of payment.
  • Write up a simple contract to protect both buyer and seller—especially important in case circumstances change.
  • Never agree to buy a puppy in a car park or public place. Always go to the breeder's premises.
