Description

Loki is a 19-month-old male KC registered German Shorthaired Pointer with genuine working ability and a strong, proven pedigree behind him. (KC Name: Billingbriar Moorstorker). He has been brought on correctly and, during his development, has been regularly trained on a 1-to-1 basis with a GSP specialist, which clearly shows in how he works, listens, and carries himself.

He is already demonstrating strong natural instincts, including confident deer tracking, stylish pointing, and a real willingness to retrieve. He is particularly strong in water and genuinely enjoys it, making him a very well-rounded and versatile dog suited to a range of working environments.

He is a switched-on, intelligent dog that wants to work with you, not against you. At the same time, he has a great off-switch and is extremely well-behaved in the kennel, quiet, settled, and no nuisance barking. He has solid foundations in place for someone to take him further, whether that’s for regular shooting, picking up, tracking, or even progressing toward trial standard.

His breeding speaks for itself. He comes from strong KC registered European working lines, with multiple Field Trial Champions present within the pedigree. This is the type of breeding that gives you confidence in both ability and temperament.

This is a very difficult decision. Due to changes in my work circumstances, I simply cannot give him the time, consistency, and work he deserves. He is not a dog that should be left without purpose, and it would be a waste of his ability. I would much rather see him go to someone who will properly work him and bring out his full potential.

I am in no rush to sell and will only let him go to the right setup. I would also consider a 50/50 ownership arrangement with the right person (needs to be local)and however he would need to be based with you and actively worked.

🐶 Buyer’s Checklist for Gun Dogs

Whether you’re buying, selling, or studding a dog, it’s essential to take the right steps to protect yourself—and the animals involved.

  • Always meet the dog in person at the breeder’s home or kennel—never agree to buy without seeing them first.
  • Ask to see the puppies with their Dam (mother), and the Sire (father) if available.
  • Verify all paperwork:
    • Kennel Club (KC) registration number
    • Date of birth
    • Health screening results
  • Prepare questions to ask the breeder. Some helpful ones include:
    • Did you breed the dog(s) yourself?
    • Can I see where they were bred and raised?
    • How old is the Dam, and how many litters has she had?
    • Was the birth natural or via C-section?
    • Are there any known health issues?
    • Can I see documentation for both Dam and Sire?
    • Will the puppy be vaccinated and wormed before purchase?

  • If something feels off, walk away. Don’t ignore red flags.
  • Ask for advice from a trusted third party if you’re unsure.
  • Take your time. This is a big decision—don’t rush it.

  • Puppies should appear happy, healthy, clean, and curious.
  • You should be allowed to see and handle all puppies in the litter, not just the one you're considering.
  • Never buy a puppy younger than 8 weeks old.
  • Avoid any puppies that show signs of illness—e.g. runny eyes, weakness, or diarrhoea.

  • Is the whelping pen clean?
  • Do the dogs have access to fresh water, clean food, and adequate space?
  • The living conditions can say a lot about the breeder’s standards.

  • Ensure you receive the KC registration form and all relevant documents at the time of payment.
  • Write up a simple contract to protect both buyer and seller—especially important in case circumstances change.
  • Never agree to buy a puppy in a car park or public place. Always go to the breeder's premises.
