Description

The sire to this litter, Jack (Llangunwood Spruce of Suttoncallow), was himself sired by FTW Dalvoulin Fraser of Drakeshead.  Through Fraser, Jack is most notably an uncle to FtCh Buccleuch Xena and great uncle to her son FtCh Buccleuch Bowhill of Sandringham. Both dogs won the IGL championship respectively in 2017 and 2023. Through his mother Vilendal Black Diamond Gwen, Jack is a brother to FTW bitch Llangunwood Storm, and uncle to FTW Llangunwood Cascade. He also has many more historic champion and winner dogs within his pedigree on account of his age and the older age of many of his grand Sires, going back to dogs such as Pocklea Remus, and the Bedgebrook and Bellever kennels. Jack has had all the qualities required to be a succesful field trialist himself, although it is the working discipline we never pursued. Now 12 years old and having just completed his eleventh full working season, Jack has been an alrounder who has refused to give up active duty in my picking-up pack, our primary discipline. He is physically and mentally fit, driven, athletic and incredibly bright and loyal. His longevity has been astounding. This, his first and only sired litter, has been bred principally for myself, to bring on Jack's successors which will hopefully be of a similar quality. I am keeping two puppies myself.

The Dam, Holly (Kenzduo Wrap Up Warm of Suttoncallow), is a 3 year old working bitch who has been picking-up and sat on peg with me for the 2023/24 and 2024/25 seasons. She is athletic and driven. I have been very pleased with her all round performances and progress. She's stood out for her stamina, methodical work, efficiency and her affectionate and loyal temperment.

Holly is an average sized bitch well suited to the woodland shooting and picking-up work I focus on, although both Dam and Sire readily work open ground and water as well. Holly's sire is Labdom Bobbie at Drakeshead and her grandsire on her mother's side is FTW Drakeshead Eddie. She has a very strong lineage including great field trial champions such as FtCh Beileys Aguzannis of Fendawood, FtCh Troddenmills Beck and Call of Leacaz and FtCh Levenghyl Silvercloud of Drakeshead.

The pups are hereditary clear for CNM and SD2, and unaffected by EIC, MCD, prcd-PRA. Estimated breeding values for the Dam and Sires hips are -13 and -16 respectively, and -4 and 18 for the elbows respectively, although the sires fitness for his age is a more convincing metric. All pups have been vet checked, microchipped and had their first vaccination at 8 weeks. Pups have been wormed at 2,5 and 8 weeks with Panacur. The pups COI is 7.8%.

These puppies will make excellent companions and really need to be put to work, or be a part of an active household to get the most from them. It pains me to sell them. I am looking for good forever homes where these pups will be taken care of and enjoy opportunity to thrive. For me this is a very special litter, and I need good owners.

Pups have been raised indoors, used to all household noises and well socialised.

They will come with a puppy pack and  5 weeks insurance.

🐶 Buyer’s Checklist for Gun Dogs

Whether you’re buying, selling, or studding a dog, it’s essential to take the right steps to protect yourself—and the animals involved.

  • Always meet the dog in person at the breeder’s home or kennel—never agree to buy without seeing them first.
  • Ask to see the puppies with their Dam (mother), and the Sire (father) if available.
  • Verify all paperwork:
    • Kennel Club (KC) registration number
    • Date of birth
    • Health screening results
  • Prepare questions to ask the breeder. Some helpful ones include:
    • Did you breed the dog(s) yourself?
    • Can I see where they were bred and raised?
    • How old is the Dam, and how many litters has she had?
    • Was the birth natural or via C-section?
    • Are there any known health issues?
    • Can I see documentation for both Dam and Sire?
    • Will the puppy be vaccinated and wormed before purchase?

  • If something feels off, walk away. Don’t ignore red flags.
  • Ask for advice from a trusted third party if you’re unsure.
  • Take your time. This is a big decision—don’t rush it.

  • Puppies should appear happy, healthy, clean, and curious.
  • You should be allowed to see and handle all puppies in the litter, not just the one you're considering.
  • Never buy a puppy younger than 8 weeks old.
  • Avoid any puppies that show signs of illness—e.g. runny eyes, weakness, or diarrhoea.

  • Is the whelping pen clean?
  • Do the dogs have access to fresh water, clean food, and adequate space?
  • The living conditions can say a lot about the breeder’s standards.

  • Ensure you receive the KC registration form and all relevant documents at the time of payment.
  • Write up a simple contract to protect both buyer and seller—especially important in case circumstances change.
  • Never agree to buy a puppy in a car park or public place. Always go to the breeder's premises.
