Description

A beautiful litter of 8 springer spaniel puppies. 7th generation breeding on our family farm in East Devon. Lovely well marked pups from working (&pet) parents - Paris & Paddy both of which were bred by us. ‘The Wessington Herd’ Sure to have amazing temperaments if they follow in their parents footsteps!!! Over the years we have aimed to keep the old fashioned bone and brain in our line - we work really hard on socialising the pups with children and other animals and giving them loads of time outdoors while they are here to give them the most solid start in life. We’ve kept lots of our homebred dogs as our own over the last 25 years of breeding and have a Facebook group where we keep in touch with as many of our owners as we can. Our line is not KC registered however we register with pedigreeonline.com and I have over 25 years of breeding recorded. Pics included of various family members to show the type as well as both parents. They have been docked and certificated by Vale Vets Both parents health tested clear. And clear health tests all the way back the line. Microchips, worming, de- flea & First vaccs will be done by us. We are a licensed breeder with East Devon District Council. Please take a look at our instagram page and website both titled The Wessington Herd. And also Paddy (the sire)’s instragram page  @paddington.the.spaniel

Many thanks Laura

* we also have another litter born 24/08/25 (Cocos litter) in which we have 1 L/W & 1B/W bitch and 4 L/W dogs available. Please do contact for more information.

🐶 Buyer’s Checklist for Gun Dogs

Whether you’re buying, selling, or studding a dog, it’s essential to take the right steps to protect yourself—and the animals involved.

  • Always meet the dog in person at the breeder’s home or kennel—never agree to buy without seeing them first.
  • Ask to see the puppies with their Dam (mother), and the Sire (father) if available.
  • Verify all paperwork:
    • Kennel Club (KC) registration number
    • Date of birth
    • Health screening results
  • Prepare questions to ask the breeder. Some helpful ones include:
    • Did you breed the dog(s) yourself?
    • Can I see where they were bred and raised?
    • How old is the Dam, and how many litters has she had?
    • Was the birth natural or via C-section?
    • Are there any known health issues?
    • Can I see documentation for both Dam and Sire?
    • Will the puppy be vaccinated and wormed before purchase?

  • If something feels off, walk away. Don’t ignore red flags.
  • Ask for advice from a trusted third party if you’re unsure.
  • Take your time. This is a big decision—don’t rush it.

  • Puppies should appear happy, healthy, clean, and curious.
  • You should be allowed to see and handle all puppies in the litter, not just the one you're considering.
  • Never buy a puppy younger than 8 weeks old.
  • Avoid any puppies that show signs of illness—e.g. runny eyes, weakness, or diarrhoea.

  • Is the whelping pen clean?
  • Do the dogs have access to fresh water, clean food, and adequate space?
  • The living conditions can say a lot about the breeder’s standards.

  • Ensure you receive the KC registration form and all relevant documents at the time of payment.
  • Write up a simple contract to protect both buyer and seller—especially important in case circumstances change.
  • Never agree to buy a puppy in a car park or public place. Always go to the breeder's premises.
