Description

Exceptional working English Springer Spaniel puppies, born 4 August 2026.

Sire: Gorsebay Frosty, by Field Trial Champion Flaxdale Jamie, out of Field Trial Winner Quarrymoor Snipe.

Dam: Sedgeberrow Shannon, by International Field Trial Champion Hollydrive Bert, out of Bishwell Brooke.

This is a repeat mating done for a reason. We kept a dog from the previous litter who is now two years old and doing exceptionally well in the field. He is stylish, biddable and exactly the type of working Springer we hoped to produce.

Dad works, both parents are here to be seen, and both have exceptionally good temperaments.

The puppies are well-grown, compact and four-square, with good bone, depth and lovely heads — proper, traditional Springers with plenty of substance. They have been reared correctly from the outset with no expense spared.

They have been wormed every two weeks, naturally weaned and fully independent from Mum, and are eating good-quality Royal Canin puppy food. They have received their first vaccination and are microchipped, with microchip certificates supplied.

The puppies are Kennel Club registered, with Kennel Club paperwork present, and have been legally docked with the appropriate DEFRA certificate.

The previous litter has proved hugely versatile, with puppies going to both working and pet homes. They have been used for rough shooting and beating; one is working at an airport in narcotics detection, another has been used as an epileptic seizure-assistance dog, while others are much-loved family pets. They have also proved excellent with children.

These puppies are a very good example of the English Springer Spaniel breed and should suit working, active family or companion homes alike.

🐶 Buyer’s Checklist for Gun Dogs

Whether you’re buying, selling, or studding a dog, it’s essential to take the right steps to protect yourself—and the animals involved.

  • Always meet the dog in person at the breeder’s home or kennel—never agree to buy without seeing them first.
  • Ask to see the puppies with their Dam (mother), and the Sire (father) if available.
  • Verify all paperwork:
    • Kennel Club (KC) registration number
    • Date of birth
    • Health screening results
  • Prepare questions to ask the breeder. Some helpful ones include:
    • Did you breed the dog(s) yourself?
    • Can I see where they were bred and raised?
    • How old is the Dam, and how many litters has she had?
    • Was the birth natural or via C-section?
    • Are there any known health issues?
    • Can I see documentation for both Dam and Sire?
    • Will the puppy be vaccinated and wormed before purchase?

  • If something feels off, walk away. Don’t ignore red flags.
  • Ask for advice from a trusted third party if you’re unsure.
  • Take your time. This is a big decision—don’t rush it.

  • Puppies should appear happy, healthy, clean, and curious.
  • You should be allowed to see and handle all puppies in the litter, not just the one you're considering.
  • Never buy a puppy younger than 8 weeks old.
  • Avoid any puppies that show signs of illness—e.g. runny eyes, weakness, or diarrhoea.

  • Is the whelping pen clean?
  • Do the dogs have access to fresh water, clean food, and adequate space?
  • The living conditions can say a lot about the breeder’s standards.

  • Ensure you receive the KC registration form and all relevant documents at the time of payment.
  • Write up a simple contract to protect both buyer and seller—especially important in case circumstances change.
  • Never agree to buy a puppy in a car park or public place. Always go to the breeder's premises.
