Description
Fox red working Labrador puppies from good working lines, born 8 July 2026 and ready to leave from 5 September.
The dam, KC registered as Oh Carole, is our much loved family dog as well as an enthusiastic working gundog who thoroughly enjoys the shooting season. She has a lovely temperament, plenty of enthusiasm for work and is equally settled and affectionate at home.
O Carole has a strong working pedigree, particularly through her sire’s line, with numerous Field Trial Champions in her five generation pedigree, including FTCh Brackenbird Minnow, FTCh Craighorn Bracken, FTCh Lochmuir Bonnie and FTCh Flashmount Socrates. Her dam’s side also carries established Field Trial Champion bloodlines.
She combines that working background with a lovely family temperament and can be seen with the puppies.
The sire is KC registered as Naughtland Hot Dog, a fox red working Labrador from good working pedigree. He is a local gamekeeper’s dog, working regularly alongside the keeper, and is also very much part of an active family home.
Our bitch produced a litter of nine puppies, all healthy, thriving and developing well. They are showing a lovely range of working type characteristics already, with confident, inquisitive pups who enjoy exploring, playing, interacting with people and using their noses. Several are already showing particularly nice natural stance, drive and willingness to engage.
They are being raised in our family home on a farm just outside Shrewsbury, with our teenage son and regular visiting children. They are handled daily and are used to normal household activity, outdoor space and plenty of human interaction.
We are particularly keen to hear from knowledgeable working homes, including gamekeepers, shooting homes, beaters homes and those interested in developing a dog for gundog training or field trial work. Equally, the right active home looking for a well bred working Labrador companion would be considered.
Each puppy has its own developing character, from the bolder, busier pups who want to be involved in everything, to calmer, more thoughtful individuals. We are happy to discuss temperament in detail and help match prospective owners to the puppy we feel may suit them best.
Puppies will leave:
• KC registered with KC puppy pack
• Microchipped
• Wormed
• With 5 weeks' insurance
• Eating Nutrix puppy food, with feeding information for their new home
• Currently unvaccinated, allowing owners to follow their own vet's preferred vaccination programme. Vaccination can be arranged if required.
Good homes are very important to us and we are happy to speak at length with serious enquiries, provide further photographs, pedigree information and individual puppy details.
All puppies will be vet checked and vaccinated before leaving us.
The three bitch pups and two of the dogs are now sold. Open to offers for the dogs to go to working homes.
Please get in touch for further information.

🐶 Buyer’s Checklist for Gun Dogs
Whether you’re buying, selling, or studding a dog, it’s essential to take the right steps to protect yourself—and the animals involved.
- Always meet the dog in person at the breeder’s home or kennel—never agree to buy without seeing them first.
- Ask to see the puppies with their Dam (mother), and the Sire (father) if available.
-
Verify all paperwork:
- Kennel Club (KC) registration number
- Date of birth
- Health screening results
-
Prepare questions to ask the breeder. Some helpful ones include:
- Did you breed the dog(s) yourself?
- Can I see where they were bred and raised?
- How old is the Dam, and how many litters has she had?
- Was the birth natural or via C-section?
- Are there any known health issues?
- Can I see documentation for both Dam and Sire?
- Will the puppy be vaccinated and wormed before purchase?
- If something feels off, walk away. Don’t ignore red flags.
- Ask for advice from a trusted third party if you’re unsure.
- Take your time. This is a big decision—don’t rush it.
- Puppies should appear happy, healthy, clean, and curious.
- You should be allowed to see and handle all puppies in the litter, not just the one you're considering.
- Never buy a puppy younger than 8 weeks old.
- Avoid any puppies that show signs of illness—e.g. runny eyes, weakness, or diarrhoea.
- Is the whelping pen clean?
- Do the dogs have access to fresh water, clean food, and adequate space?
- The living conditions can say a lot about the breeder’s standards.
- Ensure you receive the KC registration form and all relevant documents at the time of payment.
- Write up a simple contract to protect both buyer and seller—especially important in case circumstances change.
- Never agree to buy a puppy in a car park or public place. Always go to the breeder's premises.
